This little Lesche Mini Sampson is absolutely fantastic and well worth the price. Not sure if some of the other reviewers fully read the item description , it's an 18" shovel, so it should be expected that it's shorter than most other models. I was prepared for this and I'm very happy that I got this.I'm a pretty tall guy at 6'2, but the shovel itself is so well made and sharp right out of the box that I'm able to bend down and easily slice a proper plug for retrieving what I've detected in the ground. I should note that I got this little shovel for those times where I'm on a school property, a public park or some other place where other folks might see me and not loose their minds. I carry a full sized digger for permissions and what-not. The 18" Sampson is great for the bigger jobs, but still is discrete enough so that people don't really give it much notice.::NOTE:: I added a little Gorilla Camo Tape to the handle for a little added "flare" ;-) Also, be sure to clean it up a little after each outing. They say it's rust resistant, but I like to make extra sure by wiping off the stuck-on excessive dirt and give it a little squirt of WD-40 if it's not going to be used for a while. I expect this to last a lifetime.

No more large, clumsy, heavy shovels for me! This is the perfect weight & size to carry while detecting. I tried it on our semi-frozen Iowa winter ground and stepping on it while moving it back & forth cut into the ground with ease! I only wish that they had designed a cover that would attach to my belt or to my finds bag. I'll need to make one.

I bought my wife this Lesche Mini Sampson 18 Inch T-Handle Shovel for her birthday. I had some scrap leather, so I made her a leather sheath for it. This little shovel is ideal for her to carry and handle. She has been metal detecting with it for several weeks and has really enjoyed using it. She had been using a Whites Digging Spade and still takes it with us when we go out. There are times when she might use both tools. I use a 36 inch T-Handle Shovel, but that is too much for her to carry when she is metal detecting. If you Metal Detect and want something that is compact for digging, but is capable of digging up those hidden treasures, this it the one to get.

Easy to use and came sharp. Remember not to sharpen to much or you will chip away at the material faster. Very sturdy and can be used as a chopper and digger just on the heavier side for those who plan to hike I would recommend something lighter.

I absolutely love this shovel. The size is perfect for all day use and won't wear you out. The length is great and easily fits into a backpack along with a detector. This shovel is perfect for stealthy digs as well as heavy wooded areas with roots. Along with all the other lesche products it's worth spending the money. I've owned other shovels that I bought for around 10-20 dollars and they all broke or bent around 200 holes. Nothing is breaking this little beast. I don't recommend this shovel for people that have back or knee problems because you will have to do some extra bending and or dropping to your knees quite often.

Bought this for that hard ground that hand tools just don't do well in and I wasn't disappointed! This is the little train that can do it. Perfect for cutting plugs and easy to carry and use. Highly recommend for anyone who digs, whether metal detecting or gardening. I've used several different digging tools and Lesche means quality and durability. This will last a lifetime!

Only one thing to say to all you diggers out there and that is "THIS MINI SHOVEL ROCKS".I love to dig and I mean dig but, I've never found a shovel that could handle the stress of my digs until now. Every digging tool I've purchased in the past 27 months have'nt lasted but a couple of weeks before they've broken during a dig.If you're looking for a dependable,reliable and or trust worthiy mini digger then this should be your choice. It's designed to last and that's what I've been looking fore.Thank you for this product and I will be recommending it to all of my fellow diggers every where.
