CHANGING REVIEW
:: EDIT!! ::For a long time I have been disappointed because of the processing noise that comes from these speakers -- no matter how I hooked it up, i heard noise. Well, I feel bad for giving these speakers such a poor review before I tested a different source. After connecting these speakers to a different source, I realized that my computer is damaged and these are the only speakers I've connected to them that reveal the noise. Listening with fresh ears from a new source, I can say that these are some of the most accurate speakers (in this price range) I have ever heard. WOW!If you're in the market for ACCURACY, don't hesitate to by these. JBL -- I'm sorry for not thoroughly testing these before submitting a review.:: original review ::I ordered these to replace a set of M-Audio BX5's that died on me. I love JBL and was very excited. These speakers sound great except when they are not in use -- when they are powered on there is a constant hissing noise. I thought I had faulty speakers, so Amazon sent me another pair -- same thing. I'm returning both pairs. To make sure it wasn't the source or the connection, I tested every connection -- same thing.

Excellent powered (active) compact monitors
I bought this product at Amazon, the package has arrived in perfect condition.I can not argue with the end result after playing music for many hours to "loosen" the speakers, the Control 2P is a solid monitor, small and useful high-quality audio playback. Listen to the Control 2P detail preferably in a store that has been ringing constantly, and see if you so excited as me.Specifications :Transducers: LF: 135 mm (5.25 in) low frequency loudspeakerHF: 19 mm (.75 in) Polycarbonate dome tweeterFrequency Range: 80 Hz - 20 kHzAmplifier Power: 35 Watts per channelMaximum SPL Per Pair: 115 dBCrossover Frequency: 4.2 kHzInput Sensitivity: +4 dBu XLR 1/4"; 0 dBu RCASignal Input Connectors (x2): Balanced Neutrik®* Combo XLR 1/4" TRS; Unbalanced RCAPower Requirements: 19 VDC / 3.42 A - use only supplied power supplyHeadphone Jack: 3.5 mm (1/8")Dimensions: 235 x 159 x 143 mm (9.3 x 6.3 x 5.6 in)Net Weight: 4.8 kg (10 lb)Advantages:1. - Compact, lightweight.2. - Amplified (active) eliminates the need for a separate amplifier inclusive the tedious task of measuring the RMS of power and ohms.3. - Multiple input options (not the custom in truly professional monitors).Disadvantage:1. - Does not include wall mount.

Liked them so much, bought a second pair
I bought these to use as desktop monitors attached to a Scarlett 8i6 audio interface. This setup worked so well, I bough a second pair for my office attached to another Scarlett interface. Both setups use XLR cables. For the prices, these speakers do a darn good job. Not like the traditional monitors, but very good for desktop quality. I’d recommend them.

Where's the bass?
I was attempting upgrade my $50 bookshelf speakers. They only have a 3" woofer. They produce way more bass resonance then these JBL's. The JBL's have no bass at all. No resonance at all. Where's the bass?Go for some $50 bookshelf speakers. These are worthless in comparison. Don't waste your $$$.

Superb sound and cost-effective
I bought the JBL C2PM Control 2P Master speaker, because I already had a pair of 20-plus-year-old JBL Pro iii speakers. I hadn't used the old speakers in years, but pairing one of them with this powered Master, I now have an excellent desktop near-field monitor. I use them for audio and video editing, as well as general computer audio, and they are terrific. I will be buying another Master to go with my other Pro iii.

Look for something better
I purchased the JPB C2PS speakers on the public recommendation of a well known mic manufacturer. Boy have I been disappointed.Pros:Nice lookingCompactIn general, the sound is fine, but I'm no golden ears.Cons:Power arcs when you plug them in, even when the speaker power switch is off. There is a pretty bright LED behind the grill of the master speaker. This is always on if the power supply is connected, regardless of the power switch setting. The speaker grills are not well supported. If you are not careful when picking up the speaker, you will flex the front grill, even at the edges. I have not damaged mine, but I've also tried to be very careful. The unbalanced inputs use RCA connectors. I HATE RCA connectors! I've had too many problems with them in the past. Why would anyone use anything but 1/4" or 1/8" stereo plug for unbalanced inputs? And if you're using a mixer, I'd expect 1/4" mono plugs. The power supply is a switching type and a fairly odd voltage - 19VDC.I'm driving the speakers with a mixer. The mixer is connected to a PC line out. In this configuration I get a high pitched whine noise through the speaker. Disconnecting the speakers and listening through headphones eliminates the whine. The mixer I'm using (Behringer Xenyx 502. granted, an economy mixer) has unbalanced outputs, so I have not been able to test if that would eliminate my hum problem.

A musical companion
Bought a single unit for a nephew who plays guitar a Christmas or two ago, and it worked just fine, guess they still have it. Bought this SET for a grandson learning guitar, but it did not work. I cant say its a bad product but failures out of the box seem quite common anymore. Gonna look for an alternative based on feedback from the crew. Maybe used here is better.

Great computer speakers!
I have used these series of JBL Studio monitors for computer speakers for many years, and they are excellent, especial when paired with sub. I particularly like the an eXo2. Careful, not any sub will work. Must have line outs to the JBLs, or get an extra JBL extension speaker like I have done that has the 8 ohm connectors on the satellites. Best, Steve
