I got this a few years ago from a different retailer, and it's one of my favorite kitchen buys. The finish is rich and deep, just like the majolique triple coat finishes. The performance is identical to high end enamel cast iron. I use this to make deep dish pizza a lot, and it works beautifully. It also saves more of its thickness for the bottom, while keeping the sides slightly thinner to help reduce the weight. Why would you pay 5X as much? This pan is just as high quality at a fraction of the price. Lava is a great, under the radar brand of cast iron. I wasted a lot of money on several high end cast iron pieces, before I discovered this brand. You don't have to be as stupid as I was. Save your money and get this. You won't be sorry.
