It was always the Spurtleโs
Outstanding. Rarely impressed with kitchenware but these are king. So much better than spoons at preventing sticking and really turning over the contents with things like fried rice and porridge. Just as good with all foods including fish and fried foods. The person above saying they scratch made the wrong guess. Who writes a review on a guess?

Solid wood
Love them,,, took a while to get used too, as they are quite thick. Now they are my go too utensil for most things, I've broken a yolk lifting eggs with these ๐

History knows best! An ancient utensil for the modern chef
I don't write reviews very often (see my history) however I wanted to share how much I love cooking with these. They are very well made and have all but replaced the rubber spatulas and crappy half-melted plastic utensils I am used to cooking with. The workmanship is of high quality and their design makes them highly versatile for just about any purpose. Reducing sauces, caramelizing vegetables, stir fry, emulsification - there is a good reason these have been in use for thousands of years. Naturally there will be times where you will still need kitchen tongs or have to use a rubber spatula for something, these Spurtles are quite useful nonetheless. On the subject of cleaning: When they arrived I washed them with soap and water, let them air dry, applied two light coats of butcher block mineral oil then let them air dry once more. I am notorious for putting things in the dishwasher that shouldn't ever go in there, when it comes to these wooden Spurtles a simple wash in warm soapy water is all that is needed, then allow them to dry on the counter before going back in the drawer. Apply a light coat of mineral oil if they start to feel dry/rough and they will last for many years.
