ENGINEER TR-11 Taper Reamer (Electric and Hand Cranking)

I purchased this item as I had a 1590 style aluminium guitar pedal enclosure with a hole that needed enlarging by 3mm. The tool arrives in a cardboard-backed plastic wrapper and is pretty foolproof to use: you simply pass the detachable rod through the hole in the tool and rotate it.I'm not familiar with these kinds of tools and was expecting to have to spend a good part of 15mins twiddling the tool round and round but it literally took under a minute to get the job done and the resultant enlarged hole was very cleanly finished. I can't comment on how it compares to other similar tools or how it would fare with a harder material, but for my singular purpose I couldn't be happier with the result and would thoroughly recommend the item based on my experience.

Not really a huge amount I can say about a taper it either works or it doesn't.... this works very well and have used it a lot since I bought it and often on hardened high carbon tool / knife steel which is very tough so it does well to even scratch let alone cut it.Seems to be well machined and finished which is what I would expect from a Japanese product assuming of course it is actually Japanese.If I lost mine I would happily buy the same one again.Only negative and I assume there is a reason for it and therefore why I have not deducted a star but the handle not being fixed into the taper can make it awkward at times to use as it slips about the place but as another reviewer suggested a few wraps of electrical tape either side of the opening solved that.

It works well, although as other commenters mention you have to be careful not to scrape your knuckles.The vertical bar is not held in by friction or spring like some other tools so it slides out really easily, this makes it slightly harder to use but also means it can get separated easily when storing it away, I ended up making a foam insert to store it.

I bought Wilkinson tuners for my Harley Benton ST-62 only to find that the holes in the headstock were too small for the new tuner rings. This reamer fixed my problem in 15 minutes, easy to use but be careful not to cut your hand on the sharp edges. Solidly built for a cheap price, great tool.

This is a very well made reamer which made it very easy to increase the endpin hole of an acoustic guitar with great precision. The reamer's crossbar is rather loose when in place however a small piece of masking tape can be used to wedge it in place .

I used this item to enlarge headstock holes for tuners on a budget guitar - to make them the "standard" size and use new tuners. Takes a bit of elbow grease (which isn't a bad thing, as you don't want to overdo it). Remember to go from both the front and the back to get a more even hole!Worked perfectly, new tuners fitted. Item itself is nice and sharp and seems to be very sturdy.

This worked well for me, no issues with the handle not being 'captive'. I used this on an alloy camera/tripod head mounting plate to enlarge the screw hole from 1/4 in to 3/8 in, reamed from both sides using a little cutting oil, resulting in a perfect size hole.

This is a well engineered product however the handle slips easily through the main body of the reamer. I was expecting this to lock into position. This will be tricky to use and store without loosing the handle.

This is a good quality, heavy-duty tool. If you don't know what it's for, you don't need it. If you do need it, this is a super bargain. I shopped everywhere. Including China. I think Amazon is going to win the sourcing war after finding this.
