What is the function of soft sleeve?

For me, I like the arm sleeves because the handheld massages are bulky and heavy and my arm always became sore moving it up and down my back. With the arm sleeves you can 'shimmy' the massage up and down your back more easily and i'm not stretching my arms into an uncomfortable position.
