I loved Pippi's adventures as a child, and still love them as an adult reader. She's such a fun, loveable character! Three cheers for Pippi!

Wonderful story that reminds me of my childhood
Pippi Longstocking is a charming story that is not only fun but engaging and so interesting. I remember when I was in 3rd grade and had to read it as part of my summer book list. Now I am so happy so see my daughter reading it and to discuss with her all of Pippi’s mischiefs. Pippi is sweet and kind, she is a good and generous friend always ready for an adventure. :)

Must read for every child
A kid that doesn't grow up with Astrid Lindgren's characters is missing out on something beautiful. No other author knew as well as her what kids want to read about. She understood them and makes them curious, happy, sad, excited and wise. Pippi Longstocking also shows kids that it is YOU who decides what to make out of your life and not the circumstances. She has courage and doesn't play the victim card as she could.

Classic story
I would have preferred the pages and cover to be a bit more robust. Other than that, the story is just as I remember from when I was a kid. I bought it for my 7 year old granddaughter and was disappointed she didn't take to it like I thought she would.

A Classic Kids Book!
I love this edition. It might be the one I read when I was little. The illustrations most match the story, which is still funny and engaging.

My other Grandy who doesn’t enjoy reading finally (after 7 months) decided to pick it up & see. She read from cover to cover & absolutely loved the story!!Both my own daughters loved it too in the 80’s!!A classic for young girls.

new 'old' favourite
I read pippi longstocking as a child and saw the new Lauren Child illustrated version and thought that as my kids loved Charlie and Lola they might both be interested, even though its such an old story (some don't seem to stand the test of time). My son is 8 and my daughter 6 and we spent a lovely week or so reading a chapter a night together and there was enough in it to keep them wanting more each day. It is essentially about a girl whose mother is dead and father lost (although it barely dwells on this and it is not a difficult issue). She lives on her own in a ramshackle house with a pet monkey and a horse. The laughs of the story are about how she manages to look after herself in a completely individual and uninhibited way, with all sorts of mad ideas that appear to make sense to her. I think it was exciting for the kids to live in that fantasy of the idea that a 9 year old could fend for herself so spontaneously and flamboyantly - and then also being able to pick out the silliness of her ideas. She is just the right mixture of bonkers, brave, bossy and vulnerable and the two children who live next door, Tommy and Annika, are the perfect foil for her.The pictures, in the end, did not add that much for me. But the story was magical and I have just ordered the next Pippi book for them. can't wait to get started.....:)

Nutty & Hilarious
Off late there have been a number of rebel girl books. But this one was released in 1945 and is as rebel as a rebel girl can be.Illogical and hence funny . Nicely written with good pictures.A classic and can still be enjoyed . Recommend for 8-10 year
