These are the original Pippi movies, bad dubbing and all. Takes you back to those old saturdays in front of the television, but without the commercials. Good quality and great fun. Highly recommend

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! this is the 4 box DVD set that I have been looking for!!!!! THANK YOU!!!! I was swayed a little and confused by the reviews that people left here about the 4 DVD Pipi Collection vs the TV Series DVD so I bought both the 4 DVD set & the TV series DVD to be sure that I was getting what I was looking for and to hopefully leave a more clearer review. When looking for this I also discovered that many people have there own generation of the Pippi that was theirs. I was looking for the one from when I was a little youth born in 1975 and grew up on Vancouver Island and enjoyed Pipi most of my life. I wanted to bring back those "oh so dear to my heart" childhood memories of Pipi... and this is IT!!!! This is the boxed set you are looking for if your memories are from around the dates of my childhood neck of the woods. The "TV Series DVD" to me was disappointing. They did change Annika to Anna and the children were not as joyful in the dubbing and the dialogue is certainly different. You are watching the same images but, you do get another storyline perspective of Pipi. As well, the images are pieced together differently to produce a different story that way too.One Example:4 DVD Box set When Tommy and Annika come to give Pippi the candy box she gives them gifts too. A Harmonica and a ball.TV Series DVDPipi is looking for her bag of gold gives Tommy a pocket knife (which kinda shocked me) and Annika a hair comb, I think it was. You do learn different things about Pippi that you would not have otherwise known from the TV Series DVD as opposed to the box set, but it's nothing necessary to know, it is not money needed to be spent...unless you have it to spend and would like to give it a try. But honestly, the TV series DVD has been viewed once and is collecting dust on my shelf and does not have the same joy to me as the one I grew up with. The 4 DVD Boxed set is definately the English dubbed Pipi I remember in all it's Glory!!! Right down to the infectious roarous children's' laughter of Annika and Tommy with Pippi and Pipi's lovable, "flirt with danger" "bold, sly, cheeky, happy voice of "who me? innoncence" to the nostalgic soundtrack scratch (that I guess is what could be what is being misinterpreted as smoking voices) *shrug* I do think though that Pipi's big burley papa could have sounded this way, I guess...but, I just thought that it was cuz he was her big strong " Captain of the South Seas" papa *GRIN*This Pippi was definately the Pippi that every child in my time wanted to be with or even BE! These are classic films that bring me back to my childhood and all the fun I had watching these films. Technically, by today's standards, they are quite shabby, but seeing as how they were filmed in the late 60s, it's to be expected. So far I have watched 3 of the 4 and I got lost in the magic and fun of these films. Loved every minute of them.My only complaint is with the special features. I wish they had included some interviews (I know there are several of the young Inger Nillson on YouTube) or perhaps scenes that didn't make it into the movie, but then again, this movie is so old, I don't even know if those deleted scenes even still exist. The only special features included are a photo gallery of stills from the film.Anyhow, this is an absolutely wonderful collection and I would recommend it highly to ANYONE who remembers these movies from back in the day, or who has young children. Though the technical quality isn't the best, the content and the whole spirit of the movie more than make up for it.Just know though that these older movies are a lot different than a lot of today's kids movies/programming. It was a much more innocent time, and these characters were allowed to do things that would make a lot of today's parents cringe. The thing, though, is that in that era those things were just considered fantasy. Kids playing with pistols, or doing silly things like trying to fly or leaving for days without their parents knowing.Also, the fact that Pippi's dad had no problem with her living by herself, or not going to school -- I'm sure some overly sensitive parent might say this was a form of child abuse or neglect, but like I said, at the time it was filmed, the world was not as politically correct or scary like it is now. Pippi was the epitome of imagination and fun, and I enjoyed every moment going down memory lane with these classic films.

Brings back memories, now I can watch with my granddaughter when she comes to visit.

A blast to watch with the kids. Great quality and the stories are exactly as I remember from 40-ish years ago. My kiddo found her and her friends fun and got really into the stories.

Mi hija de 5 años y mi hijo de 3 años están apasionados.Importante decir que las películas no se pueden ver en los DVDs españoles. Yo tengo uno que había comprado en EEUU y ahí podemos verlas, pero en el DVD español las películas dan error.

Dafür die fünf Sterne.Aber Achtung:Ich habe mich bei der Auswahl des Artikels bei "Kinder-Klassiker" von dem Hinweis beeinflussen lassen, dass es sich bei der Box mit der BLAUEN Hülle um jene Spielfilme handelt, die "remastered" sind, während dies bei der bei Amazon von verschiedenen Anbietern verfügbaren ROT-ORANGEN Box nicht explizit erwähnt wurde.Erhalten habe ich trotz des höheren Preises jedoch die rot-orange Box, bei der lediglich ein kleiner Aufkleber auf der Einschweißfolie darauf hinweist, dass es sich ebenfalls um eine digital aufbereitete Version der Filme handelt. Mit diesem Wissen kann man rund vier Euro für den Bezug der gleichen Filme-Box sparen, wenn man sich nicht von den unterschiedlichen Abbildungen irreführen lässt und den günstigsten Anbieter auswählt.
