Fun and interactive. Great for teaching young kids at home simple coding. So far have not changed the battery, Dart runs strong.

This is a fun gift for kids. I like the coding aspect and having a fun screen-free toy. Box is a little smaller than expected. Dart only goes on the black line pattern, so there isn't much coding to do. You can draw your own design, which is what my son likes doing, but the line does need to be thick, solid, black lines for it to work.

My 4 year old twin grandchildren loved this gift. They were able to put the road together and had so much fun watching little Dipper the Narwhal move along their creation. Cute and such a fun way to learn.

This was an awesome purchase for our small town library, and lots of fun for the kids. However, the book that came with it was very small so I copied it and laminated it for the kids because if they follow it, they can tell a story with the coding critter. I felt it could have been better quality. I also had to photo the instruction page because it was really tiny print, and we needed it on hand in print form that people could see. Scrambles the Fox worked just fine for a little while. This is not rechargeable, so the batteries eventually died, and because of our small budget, took us a while to find batteries online, get them ordered, etc. Coding Critter sat on my desk for a good three months out of service. When I got the batteries (I got lots of extra) ... and here's the tricky part ... you need the smallest Phillips screwdriver they make to open the cover, and the four 1.5 v coin batteries are stacked two at a time in the spring-loaded slots. This will take a bright light, magnifying glass, two people, a butter knife, and very nimble fingers. We did it, and frisky fox is good to go again. Well, I spoke too soon. I should have crossed my fingers. I tried different batteries, and still no response. RIP Scrambles. Bee Bot is rechargeable and more reliable.

It'll follow bold black lines. If you use some scrap cardboard or paper and use a sharpie to draw a thick black line, you can extend the play length

I bought one of these for my daughter during a sale in January of 2024 but didn’t get around to opening until we unpacked from our move several months later. The narwhal is so cute but doesn’t work. I didn’t even attempt to return since the window had closed months prior. Purchased again to surprise my daughter and decided to turn it on to see it in action and THIs ONE DOESN'T WORK EITHER! I’m so sad because my daughter really wants to play with her coding pet while her brother plays with his coding mouse! Returns are such a hassle and I don’t have time to deal with this right now. I know sometimes things don’t work but this is the second one with the same issue.

Das Coding Spielzeug von Learning Resources ist wirklich cool. Meine 4 Jährige Tochter hat schnell verstanden wie das Spiel funktioniert: sie hat schnell mit den Karten ihre Rennbahn gebaut und das kleine “Haustier” über die Bahn fahren lassen. Das Tier fährt wirklich die Strecke entlang und führt bei den Kindern zu einem Lerneffekt, wenn sie beispielsweise die Strecke aufbauen ohne die Straßen richtig zu verbinden, denn dann kommt das Tierchen nicht vorwärts. Schön hätte ich es gefunden, wenn es mehr Karten gegeben hätte bzw. Karten mit mehr Bewegungsmöglichkeiten für das Tierchen, damit es nicht zu einseitig wird. Ansonsten lieben meine Kinder das Spielzeug und beschäftigen sich gerne damit.

My grandson (aged 4) loves this. It does not only follow the lines on the board (jigsaw) you can draw a thick black line and it will follow that to creat your own route/game. Looks well made.
