Twister / Poseidon / The Perfect Storm (Triple Feature) [Blu-ray]

I bought this for TWISTER, the price is almost the same as a stand-alone disc for that movie. TWISTER looks great, but so do the other two movies in this set. I had seen all three and hadn't liked THE PERFECT STORM when it was released. But wow have I changed my mind. The second half of that movie is fantastic. Very thrilling and emotionally powerful. POSEIDON is about equal to the famous early 70s movie. Special effects are better, the cast is comparable. Overall, this is great value for the money

Good movies

I was pleased to find this offer of 3 Blu-ray DVDS together. I'm changing my standard DVDS to Blu-ray. Each movie is about natural disasters, tense and enjoyable. "The Perfect Storm" was enlightening, about what deep sea fishermen may endure while out to sea. "The Poseidon" (2006) is kind of a remake of "The Poseidon Adventure" (1971), I liked the original best. "Twister" is my fav of the 3 movies since it is on land and I'm not a deep water person. For me it was worth the purchase and at a good price, so I recommend it to you. All are great movies, a 5 star rating.

The Perfect Storm is another disaster Drama Action film based on a true story directed by Wolf Gang Peterson released 2000 starring George Clooney - Mark Wahlberg - William Fitchner - John C. Reilly - Diana Lane - Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio - Karen Allen - Bob Gunton and Michael Ironside based on a non fiction book released in 97 with the same title by Sebastian Junger about the crew of the Andrea Gail that got caught in the perfect storm of 1991 , The Sword fishing boat The Andrea Gail returns home to port in Gloucester Massachusets with a poor catch after a month out at sea and desperate for extra cash the crew went back out to sea after 2 days rest heading to the Flemish Cap where their luck improves unfortunate the ice machine breaks and the only way to sell their catch before it spoils is to hurry back with two powerful storms and a hurricane the crew underestimate and get caught up in the middle of the perfect storm . The Triple Feature are Three Good Blu Ray Movies for a Great Price worth buying .

BOTTOM LINE: Trio of older natural disaster-themed films bundled together in a 3-disc Blu-ray set is a solid value. Recommended. 4 STARS TWISTER is my favorite of the three. I always enjoy this brainless bad weather movie. I love the late Bill Paxton. His memorable turn as Pvt. Hudson in ALIENS was a classic role. Plus, he always seemed to be genuinely having fun while on camera, no matter what kind of part he was playing. I'll check out just about anything he's in. Helen Hunt is easy on the eyes and delivers her techno-speak fairly believably. Her rowdy gang of unkempt storm chasers are a goofy, fun bunch; the kind of guys you'd want to hang with after work for a beer. Cary Elwes makes for a suitably hiss-worthy corporate kiss-butt bad guy. The effects, though somewhat primitive by modern standards, are ambitious and still do their job nicely, plus the non-stop dangers are harmless fun to watch. POSEIDON is a well-mounted but ultimately pointless remake of the seminal granpappy of the star-studded disaster genre. Competent at every turn, but frankly the only fun comes from figuring out which old Poseidon Adventure characters these new actors are supposed to be playing - and who will live or die. The whole thing looks pretty good, but sadly the film feels rushed and the characters so under-developed that you really don't get to know enough about them to care who makes it and who bites the big one. A pretty serious flaw. I'm a big Kurt Russel fan though, so if he's in something, I'll check it out. THE PERFECT STORM is a well-done but grim outing. Being based on tragic real life events, there's no way to honestly tell anything other than a relentlessly sad and ultimately depressing tale. George Clooney & Co. are very believable in their respective roles of working class fishermen consigned to their fates due to pig-headed stubbornness & heartless corporate greed. It's all very well done, and director Wolfgang (DAS BOOT) Peterson faithfully captures the look & feel of the weary blue collar sword fishing industry quite well. Just don't watch this expecting a happy ending. Flick is still worth an occasional spin just for the quality of the acting. And I gotta give credit to the production team, cast & crew for having the balls to tell the story truthfully, without giving it some BS happy Hollywood ending. (Because like it or not, sometimes we need to be reminded that life isn't always happy & fun.) THE BLU-RAYS: All 3 films all look & sound great. The special features for each film remain intact. In fact, the discs appear to be the same as when each movie was released individually, so you're getting all three movies complete in one space-saving package. This is an affordable deal for the casual film collector and anyone who's a fan of these kinds of films. Enjoyable time-killers to watch when the weather is nasty enough to keep you inside for the evening. ;-) 4 STARS.

You’re wonderful

The packaging is nice and glossy, all 3 discs are in one case, neatly done, package arrived in mint condition. I watched all these movies in the cinem, i held out buying any of the blu rays, cause honestly i did not feel the individual prices along with the shipping costs justified what i had to pay,When I saw the triple feature pack, I immediately snatched it up, after all it had all 3 movies that i wanted to own. Twister is one of those disaster movies that can be watched over and over again, I watched it in the cinema when it first came out and have watched it several time since then, on satellite tv and dvd, On blu ray its a whole other beast, the film is stunning, detail is amazing, and the Dolby True HD 5.1 soundtrack thunders through the room when in full flow, Rear speakers are constantly active. As i said its a movie that be watched over and over again and on blu ray it stands out even more. The Perfect Storm is based on true events from that freak storm in 1991 which is believed to have brutally pounded the Andrea Gail (the fishing vessel, that is the focal point of the film) and her crew, all where lost to sea, having watched this movie all those years ago, i always wanted to experience it again, i will say this the blu ray is amazing, detail is spot on, but the winner here is the soundtrack, cause once we move into the part of the film where its the Andrea Gail plus her crew vs The Perfect Storm, the Dolby True HD 5.1 soundtrack is at it's peak, every single sound can be heard, and because there is so much movement by the boat and the storm, you constantly get this beautiful 3d like sound effect as the sound rotates back and forth through the front and rear speakers, i Loved it. Poseidon, is the only movie in the collection that carries a DTS HD Master audio 5.1 soundtrack, i am a big fan of DTS HD, though here it feels restrained, its brilliant when the ship gets hit by the rouge wave and then through various points in the film, but honestly it does feel toned down, don't get me wrong, its still a wonderful soundtrack, though it feels a like during the sound mixing they kept its capabilities caged most of the time. Picture detail is spot and very clean, being the newest movie of the two this is expected. This triple feature is a bargain. Exelentes películas clásicas y a un bajo precio todo en exelentes condiciones

All three were excellent movies, great action and story line and the special effects were icing on the cake. If want these buy the blu ray over the dvd version. P.S. Great service from seller and Amazon as usual.

excelnte pelicula, lastima que no esta en THX como estaba originalmente el VHS, pero la calidad de imagen y aun el sonido dolby esta excelente, pero en THX es otra onda.
