What is the Steel Clip with Spring for?

These clamps are part of a hanging file system. The steel clip and spring are used to retain the clamp in a vertical hanging rack.

Our rack measures 25in from side to side will the 24in work in this application

Hello, It’s hard to say. IF your rack is a Brookside rack, then the answer is most likely YES. If it’s not, perhaps it will fit, and perhaps it won’t. 24” is one of the standard clamp dimensions for Brookside and the industry in general. More info: Internal steel spring holds clamp open for easy loading. Heavy duty chrome plated steel wing knobs open and close the clamp. Chrome plated steel clip includes a spring to clip onto pivot brackets. Includes snap-on clear plastic label holder. Clamps available in 18", 24", 30", 36" and 42" lengths and are sold in sets of six. Thanks for your question! Amazon seller: MenuCoverMan
