Traditional Handmade Chinese Musical Instrument Vintage Bamboo Flute Dizi (G key)

The media could not be loaded. I've never tried a Chinese flute before. I played flute in high school band and as an adult picked up the Irish Penny Whistle, because it's fun and the fingerings are basically the same. The fingerings on this flute are basically the same as a traditional flute as well, so it's an easy transition. This flute is rather gorgeous...smooth, glossy, and totally unique. The crushed velvet bag that comes with it is a nice touch to protect the flute from dust and grime while not in use. It also comes with the traditional "membrane" that needs to be put on one of the holes, but I used a simple piece of Scotch tape to cover the hole as a YouTuber suggested for beginners as a super quick and easy alternative to putting the membrane on with glue. If I hadn't watched a couple of videos on how to play this type of flute, I guess I really wouldn't have understood why you needed the membrane, but without it...you will not get any sound. The simple piece of tape works just fine and can easily be taken off, replaced, or adjusted. When I get more comfortable playing, I'll probably switch to the traditional membrane that they sent with the flute. As a side note, Kmise is a great company to work with and their products seem to be really great quality for an amazingly low price.The sound on this flute is rich, beautiful, full, and loud. If you can play a traditional flute, you can easily pick this up. I am looking forward to finding a few beautiful Chinese melodies to play on this flute. My kids are also having fun trying to play.
