I purchased this candle for my 19 year old grandson who is just moving into an apartment in NYC while he goes to college.....it was such a perfect "guy" gift because the ascetic is very simple and not "flowery" and it smells wonderful.

Great gift for a native New Yorker

Having lived here for 15 years, the candle doesn’t really smell like NYC, but It’s light and citric. The candle burns clean down to the bottom. You could even use the jar when it’s done.

Homesick Scented Candle, New York City (2020 Version) This is a decent candle with a really cool idea. I do like the concept and branding. The downfall is really in the power of the scent when it's burning. It smells really nice, I can strongly smell the gardenia and some other floral notes. I just wish it had a stronger scent when burning. The scent when it's not burning is strong and would make me think it would be stronger when lit. Pros- -Love the concept of trying to pinpoint the scents of specific locations. -Really great scent -I like the packaging. It's simplistic with just the name of the location in this case NYC (specifically they were going for central park with this candle). -Very easy gift. -Seems to have a pretty long burn time thus far. -Made in the USA (well it states "hand-poured in the USA" so I am assuming that means made) Cons- -Not strong-smelling when lit. -No lid which always kind of bothers me when a company doesn't include one. -The price point is very stretched. I feel it is mostly for the novelty aspect of it not because the actual candle is anything amazing. Overall, I like the candle. I would buy other scents/locations they offer just to see if the scents remind me of being there but I would never pay the current list price for a candle like this after trying it. If I were to spend that much on a candle I would be expecting much more than this (stronger scent, even longer burn time, higher quality container, etc. ). This is a great concept so I do love the idea of this brand. If you're looking for a gift, I can see this being a good choice, but it just doesn't deliver the quality I would expect from the price point in my opinion.

I absolutely love the fragrance of this candle… Homesick…NEW YORK CITY. Our son and his wife gave us one of these candles and we loved the scent so much we bought another one. I have lots of candles and this candle is now my favorite scented candle. It has a warm , inviting scent that fills several rooms with its lovely scent !

I didn't quite know what to expect from this candle, but I was intrigued by the description of it and the reviews, so I bought it anyway. I lived in NYC for about 20 years, and when I think of the city, I think of street-cart roasted chestnuts, steam rising from the streets, the dankness of the subway, and asphalt in the summer heat. Probably better that the candle doesn't capture those last two. The actual scent is really nice. It smells fresh, with hints of Diptyque's Figuier candle -- relaxing as well as invigorating, somehow. My better half likes the way it smells, too, and he's not really a candle type of guy. I'd buy it again.

This candle was okay! I don't love the smell (though it's pretty mild), and it doesn't remind me of NYC. I like the shape of the candle, though (sort of curved like a soda can). I also like the bright yellow box the candle comes in--great for gifts. And the minimalistic design of the candle label is very appealing. Unlike another candle I got from this company, the label on this candle was properly placed without being askew or having bubbles/wrinkles. The candle is quite pricey. It's more expensive than Yankee Candle! And, is it worth it? Will this really remind you of NYC? Given the price, I could really only see buying this as a housewarming gift, or something similar.
