Great little machine, once you get the hang of it. Be patient and it will open jars. Our first one was either defective or had a big issue when test opening the first jar, it slipped up and kept trying to open the jar on an angle, it dented the lid ( wow strong!!), but somehow made the jar body grippers not retract equally and stayed that way. We got a replacement, and it seems fine. I recommend keeping your hand on top of the opener until it fully grips the jar, don't stop holding it down. This seems to have cured it of the weird previous behavior.

After having thumb surgery on my dominant hand, simple things like opening jars suddenly became frustrating and nearly impossible. This electric jar opener was a lifesaver! It did all the work for me and opened jars easily without putting strain on my hand. It was simple to use, worked on different jar sizes, and gave me back a little independence during recovery. Even now that my hand is improving, I still reach for it. Highly recommend for anyone recovering from surgery or dealing with weak or arthritic hands!

Ordered this jar opener because arthritis started making it difficult to open some jars. We don’t have that many jars to open and the first few jars (maybe 3 or 4) worked very well. Until….. tried opening a jar for dinner and the whole opener got stuck!! Made an awful high pitched sound like the motor was stressing. I immediately removed the batteries and both my husband and myself tried to remove the opener from jar. It was not going to happen. We tried to open the jar. Nope not happening either. Totally stuck! Tried to call customer service and of course it was after their hours. I left a message thinking they’d call back the next day. No call back!! That was on Friday so Monday afternoon I tried to call again. After holding for 6 minutes I was told someone would call back shortly, leave a message. Well another 2 days have passed without a return call. We finally got the opener off the jar and finally got the jar opened as well. Not sure if the opener will work at this point and sadly I can’t return it to Amazon now. Very disappointed at the lack of customer service that the instruction sheet referred me to. I will not recommend this to anyone I know. And by the way, the opener causes the jar to slip quite aggressively when it does work. If you’ve read this entire review, I’d recommend to look at another product.

My hands and wrists are so arthritic I can't open anything anymore. My husband bought this for me, it's so easy to use. You just set it on the jar and start it, a little vice grip comes together and fits on the top of the lid and it slowly moves around and opens the lid. Super easy to operate, and has worked on every jar I've needed opened. I think it's well worth the money. It takes a little bit of time and you can't rush it but it's worth letting the opener do it's job.

I have been pleased with how easy the Higher Torque Electric Jar Opener works. I am replacing the first jar opener I purchased. You need to make sure the jar is in the center of the two brackets. The first jar opener broke because the opener brackets were at an angle on the jar. I decided to replace based on how well it opened jars.

Works great. Bought as replacement for same style opener I had been using for years that had stopped working. Fantastic product for small, weak, or arthritic hands. No more struggling for opening jars or caps.

used this opener less than 6 times. It was used per the instructions. When trying to open a brand new jar of preserves, it struggled and then both arms that grip the jar just broke, with one coming completely out of the body of the opener. I contacted the manufacturer, since it states lifetime warranty, and I included pictures and a short video. They replied asking for my Amazon order number, which I provided, along with the date of purchase. They thanked me and said they would be sending me a replacement. Still haven't gotten a replacement or any other correspondence from them. So I don't recommend it, for quality and lack of customer service. Update - 12/27/30 I contacted the company before Christmas to inquire about the status of my replacement jar opener. They replied in less than 24 hrs. and informed me they had a situation on their end with mine and other orders getting processed. Understandable. They apologized and sent out my replacement & I received it within 2 days. Their customer service is responsive and accommodating. So I’ve adjusted my rating of them to reflect that. I will also update on the product quality after we get to using it.
