The Best Of The Best
This book is by far the best straight-to-it guide on the heavy topic that is vocal technique. I’ve been a fan of this text since the first edition but this version is broadened to fit everything from classical and opera all the way to Musical Thestre snd CCM. Posture, Breathing, Inhalation, creation and release of sound, Resonance, vowels and consonants (including the basics of IPA) vibrato, vocal registers and range, artistry, choral singing, vocal health, and good warmup routines are ALL covered in detail in this book. Warm ups and exercises for each topic are provided as well, along with scientific and anatomical evidence (NOT AUTHOR OPINIONS) to back up each topic along with cited sources and a bibliography. Perfect text for a college pedagogy class and I have a feeling it will be the standard before long. It’s written and broken down to where the total newbie and professional singer alike can take loads from it. This is a MUST BUY for ANY singers library, and could be your saving grace by helping improve technique and avoid vocal injuries or damage. 5 stars for sure. 6 if I could.
