Does this come with a basket

I’m assuming you are referring to a basket for the veggies to steam? It’s not necessary. Just cut the veggies or fruít and push auto and the machine will cook and then blend. Super easy!

How can you sterilize items in here I was unable to find the answer to that? Also does the water compartment need to be cleaned and if so how?

The water tank needs to be cleaned and kept dry after each use.
