Had to buy this movie because they no longer stream it on any platforms

Loses something in time but still very much an 80’s classic. Put the candle back!

Great movie! Not much more can be said.

Young Frankenstein is an absolute comedy classic. You won't regret this purchase.

I have always thought that Mel Brooks' movies were more silly than funny, although in all fairness I have not seen all of them. I found some scenes in "The Producers" to be very funny, but overall I think "Young Frankenstein" is Brooks' best film. Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder), the grandson of you-know who, is traveling on a train to New York when he receives an invitation of come to Transylvania to continue his grandfather's work. (So as not to cause confusion, from now on we will refer to him as "Herr Doktor," or, when speaking informally, as "Frankie.") As the train pulls into the station, we have Mel Brooks' tribute to Glenn Miller: Frankie: Pardon me boy, is this the Transylvania Station?" Shoeshine Boy: Ja, Track 29. Can I give you a shine? Frankie: No, thanks.At the station, he meets his assistant Igor ("My grandfather used to work for your grandfather.") In the wagon that will take him to the castle, he also meets his new lab assistant, Inga (Teri Garr). She's lying in the back of the wagon, on top of some hay. Inga: Hello, would you like to have a roll in the hay? It's fun. Roll, Roll, roll in the hay. (She rolls back and forth).Now, I'll bet you thought she was talking about something else, didn't you? So did Herr Doktor.At the castle, our friends meet Frau Blucher (Cloris Leachman), whose name has a strange effect on horses.Eventually, she helps him to discover a secret passage to his grandfather's laboratory, which also contains his private library. One book is of particular interest: "HOW I DID IT," by Victor Frankenstein. With this knowledge, Frankie can make a new creature. All he has to do is dig up a body and give him a magnificent brain (the one he has in mind belongs to Hans Delbruck, "Scientist And Saint").So Herr Doktor and Igor go and dig up a body, late at night, in a deserted cemetery. Herr Doktor: What a filthy job! Igor: Oh, I don't know, it could be worse? Herr Doctor: How? Igor: Could be raining.Immediately, a thunderstorm begins. With some difficulty, and the interference of a nosy constable, they get the body back to the castle. Now all they have to do is give it a magnificent brain. That would be Igor's job. He's got to go to the Brain Depository, where all mad scientists go to get their brains. ("AFTER 5 P.M. SLIP BRAINS THROUGH SLOT IN DOOR.") He picks up Hans Delbruck's brain but, frightened by a flash of lighting, drops it on the floor. He picks up another brain. but this one has a sign in front of it. "ABNORMAL. DO NOT USE THIS BRAIN."When Frankie finally brings THE MONSTER to life, it cannot speak, is terrified of fire, and is so out of control it needs a sedative to put him to sleep. This calls for a little chat between Herr Doktor and Igor.Herr Doktor: That brain I put in, it's not Hans Delbrook, is it?Igor: No.Herr Doktor: Then whose brain did I put in?Igor: Abbie somebody.Herr Doktor: Abbie somebody.Igor: Abbie Normal.Herr Doktor: Abbie Normal.Igor: I'm almost sure that was the name.The Monster escapes, and lured by the sound of violin music, goes to the cabin of a blind man (Gene Hackman). Of course, he's not afraid of the Monster because he cannot see him. How strange that a man who cannot see becomes friends with a man who cannot speak. But things quickly go wrong. Trying to give the Monster soup, the blind man pours it in his lap. Wishing to have a smoke with him, he hands him a cigar and winds up lighting his finger. Since we know how terrified he is of fire, it's reasonable to expect that he would break down the door and run away.Meanwhile, the villagers are having a meeting. Inspector Kemp (Kenneth Mars), who speaks with such a thick accent that even his own people can't understand him, is about to speak.Inspector Kemp: Ve must confeerm the fact that he is not following in his grandfather's footschopts.Villagers: WHAT?Inspector Kemp: Following in his grandfather's footschopts. Footschopts! Footschopts! (Stamps his feet.)Meanwhile, Frau Blucher receives a telegram and rushes to the laboratory to tell Herr Doktor the news. His fiancee Elizabeth (Madeline Kahn) is coming for a visit. But he's nowhere to be found. Calling out to him, he lowers the platform on the roof (the one he used to give the Monster life), and we see him and Inga lying under a blanket. She tells the doctor, "I suggest you put on a tie."Now while the Monster isn't much intellectually, he is very good at something else, as Elizabeth finds out when (still on the loose) he kidnaps her. Eventually, however, Inga, Igor, and Herr Doctor recapture him. And Herr Doktor has an idea. If he can transfer some of his blood to the Monster, "he'd be as right as rain." But in the middle of the transfusion, the villagers (using the inspector as a battering ram) storm the castle, and are amazed when the Monster speaks.Now that the danger is over, Elizabeth marries the Monster and becomes the Bride of Frankenstein (same hairdo as Elsa Lanchester). Frankie marries Inga, but there's one thing that still puzzles her. "I know that during the operation the monster got part of part of your magnificent brain, but what did you get from him?" She's about to find out. As the scene fades, we hear Inga speak for the last time: "I DON'T BELIEVE IT!"

Always enjoy this movie when I watched it at the theater decades ago. Fun watching it again

Clássico da comédia, Gene Wilder e Mel Brooks satirizam a história de Frankenstein. Filmaço. Roda em aparelhos nacionais sem problemas, mas o estojo vem com uma parte vazada que deixa ele mais frágil.

Seriously!?.....OK the film is a masterpiece by the fantastic Mel Brooks.....brilliant cast, brilliant laughs, brilliant price!.... got to be bought and watched! If you have a sense of humour...this is for you! 100%🤣
