My mouth got so dry at night it actually woke me up. My dentist told me it was important to have moisture in my mouth to reduce decay and recommended Biotene toothpaste, but neither that nor the mouthwash helped night dryness caused by the HCTZ I take. While I like several things about the toothpaste and mouthwash, I needed something extra and found this product does the trick. This is a small tube and with the recommended dose would be gone pretty fast making it an expensive solution, but I use only a fraction of what they suggest and find it works just fine. As a result, the tube lasts and I am not bothered at night by a super dry mouth. After brushing before bed, while my mouth is still moist from that, I use less than 1/4" of gel and smooth it around with my tongue. It's great to get that needed relief. I've also found that brushing my teeth after dinner, thus allowing longer before bedtime for natural saliva recovery, helps with the nighttime dryness (also keeps me from snacking at night :). Then I just use this product before retiring. Highly recommended.

I've used the entire suite of Biotene products during and after my radiation treatment for head and neck cancer. The treatment has the nasty side affect of severely damaging your salivary glands. Three months out of treatment, I'm still producing very little saliva, and I use the Biotene toothpaste to brush my teeth, Biotene rinse to provide an initial layer of moisture to my mouth, the Biotene gel for sleeping (up to 4 - 5 hours now without waking up to drink something because my throat is so dry), and previously used the Biotene spray when mobile. The spray was recalled for a labeling error, and I'm still awaiting its return. The local stores were out of stock on the gel, and I simply can't go without it at this point, so my fallback was to order online. The price delivered was a bit less than all the stores except Walmart.

I have dry mouth due to radiation treatment for head and neck cancer. The OralBalance gel helps me to sleep as many as 6 hours straight without waking up due to dry mouth pain. The taste seems neutral to me, but I don't have much sense of taste at the moment. It is a bit like sticking pnut butter to the roof of your mouth, spreading it out evenly with your tongue, and then leaving it there. The gel breaks down a little at a time and keeps your mouth nice and moist. If you have a dry throat, this can help a little bit, since you get some wetness to swallow every so often. Sometimes I still need a swallow of water to wet down the throat. Overall I am very happy with the product and am grateful for the improvement in my quantity and quality of sleep. My only complaint is I kinda wish it was available in a larger size!

I bought this for my 92 year old father who would wake up several times a night with a dry mouth. He is not always open to being positive about new things. I had been instructed on how he should use it and showed him to put it on his index finger and to run it around the inside of his mouth. I did this when I was spending the night at his house. He woke up the next morning and said that it was the best nights sleep that he had had in he didn't know how long. I now have it sent directly to his house as part of a routine. I never let him come close to running out of this wonderful product. He had previously tried the mouthwash and it mildly helped in the beginning, but not much. This has truly changed his life.

I have tried multiple dry mouth remidies with no luck. Even with this brand, the spray or oral swish only works for hour or so. But this gel works well and will relieve dry mouth for 4 to 6 hours. Flavor is not bad, not great, but not bad

Using the product needs a little practice to avoid getting it down your throat (it is then a bit stingy and makes me sneeze).. Try it out after buying before you need to use it and use only a small amount. It also makes my finger sticky. I am not sure that it is better than Gengigel mouthwash for the job, but it does last fairly well. I will definitely continue to use it, and buy more once my 3 run out, so do not take the 3 stars as being bad. OK is OK.

I have been using this product for about 8 years now. It is absolutely a lifesaver for me. Due to radiation treatments for head and neck cancer, my saliva glands do not work. At first I had to drink water constantly and it didn't help at all. I always felt like my throat was going to close up, especially at night. Dry mouth hurts. But since I discovered this Biotene gel, I can talk, eat, sleep at night, and feel relatively normal. A little bit in my mouth lasts a long time. A little bit in the mouth, let it melt and you will feel like you have saliva again. There is hardly any taste to it at all. I carry it with me constantly. I am convinced I could not get by without it. I highly recommend it to anyone with dry mouth for any reason!

As a nasopharyngeal cancer survivor, the radiation I received that saved my life also destroyed destroyed the saliva in my mouth resulting in it remaining constantly very dry. This product is awesome in creating "artificial saliva" greatly enhancing my quality of life!
