Yes, the DIY FM Radio kit is a stereo sound. Unfortunately, I need to add at this time that the units my Grandchildren assembled are no longer able to change stations. Although the kids are disappointed, the assembly fun they had still makes these units great. I wish the supplier would fix this issue.

Would this power a small speaker through the headphone jack?

If the speaker has it's own power supply it should work

Can anyone help me ? I am having a problem soldering the elongated, thin black chip to the pcb

This is a tricky one. You could make sure the chip is oriented correctly to the board. Then remove it and place a single tiny drop of super glue to the bottom center of the chip and place it correctly over the solder tabs. Now you can solder each tab to its corresponding leg on the chip with little problem. Use a tooth pick to apply the super glue and let sit till completely dry. Even a small drop of rubber cement will work in helping to secure the chip until soldered. This is only one of many ways to solder micro components. Perhaps not the best but for those of us who can not see crap smaller than a billboard on the side of the highway. It does help.
