Sirui Compact Traveler 5C Tripod 54.3 inches Lightweight Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod for Camera with 360° Panorama Ball Head for Arca Swiss Quick Release Plate, Max Load 8.8lbs

I have several tripods ranging from heavy duty Manfrottos to compact no-name ones; but nothing I own was convenient for traveling and hiking. I decided to order a few tripods claiming to be lightweight and sturdy, but after going through about 10 of them, this is the only one I found that lived up to the claim (within a $100 budget). It is really light and based on how it folds up, it fits perfectly in the tripod holders on all of my camera and hiking bags. My typical load out is a Canon 1Dx with a 35-250mm L series lens. Total weight is around 8 lbs and I have not had any problems with the head. It has held the camera firmly in place, especially if I mount it at the lens. Now, the legs are thin when fully extended so you have to make sure you have tightened all the sections well and you are firmly planted. And because they are thin, they are likely more susceptible to shake or vibration so this may not be the best solution if you shoot in low light. It is much sturdier at mid height though. All-in-all, this is a great tripod and I recommend it.

This is my second Sirui tripod. I bought this one after loosing the first. We carry this in our car when traveling and often take it on short hikes. - Relatively easy to pop up and down. I have learned to twist all the knobs at once when collapsed and quickly twist the others when extended. It is not the fastest tripod to fold up, but is not bad at all. - Enough range for common tasks. I carry it for a family selfie tripod. A great balance between folded size and extended height. - Twist locks never go out of adjustment, even though they may take a split second longer. - Nice little ball head for lighter loads - Has the video movement just below the ball to allow fluid 360 degree panning. - Probably strong enough for light SLR setups. I would not put a really heavy camera or huge lens on it. Works fine for most consumer grade setups. - Comes with a very usable bag and strap. - The only negative is sometimes the head comes loose. A quick twist fixes it. Overall this is a great value for the quality you are getting. I believe this is the sweet spot for travel tripods. I own cheaper options that are poorly built, and there are far more expensive options, but this is lightweight yet well built tripod at a reasonable cost.

Pretty nice tripod for hiking. I’m using it with my Sony A7iii with a Sigma 24-70mm lens. The head holds tight when I shoot vertical. At first, I didn’t like having to adjust 5 different sections per leg, as it seemed tedious, but I’ve gotten pretty fast at adjusting. I will just palm 4 or 5 tighteners at once and loosen them all, pull it all the way out, and tighten each one up. It’s light for hiking, but that also means it’s prone to moving in the wind, but the carabiner clip is great for hanging your backpack on to give it more weight. If possible, keep the tripod low enough that the bag can partially drag on the ground so it doesn’t also blow in the wind.

Great little tripod. I bought this to take on a trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. It was very light, much lighter than my other tripod. Fit right in the side pouch of my camera backpack. Honestly I just keep it there now. Plenty of adjustment folds up very small.

Great tripod! The price is very cheap next to the quality you get. Although it doesn't necessarily feel like carbon fiber, it is very light and yet strong. At even surfaces it stays up perfectly, but in some situations where the ground isn't even it becomes easier to tip over. It folds down very small, and is easy to open back up. I can look through the camera when standing up without crouching when it is at its max height. Overall, this is an amazing tripod, even if it isn't a known brand.

The title says it all, at first I absolutely loved the tripod. I had some issues that I was willing to put up with for the price - the screw which retained the head to the legs came loose constantly. That would have been a deal breaker for me had the tripod not presented other undesirable quick-disconnect functionality. I was using this with a Pentax K-1 and a peak design quick-disconnect plate which is Arca-Swiss compatible, and had my camera in multiple upwards/odd orientations without issue, very much tightened down as far as I could manage. I even moved it around on the tripod several times where it had the opportunity to come loose. It was only when I went to pickup the tripod to move it the 3rd or so time that my camera suddenly slid out of the clamp and launched itself a good 8 feet across the pavement. I can only presume that the geometry does not quite line up between the peak design plates and this tripod. With this in mind, and the other issue I encountered with it (the constantly loosening head) I would suggest you consider another tripod - and that you only use the mounting plate that comes with the tripod.

The tripod legs are great. The quality is excellent, it is very well built and I feel like it will last me for a while. It is also very compact and light. The reason why it is not 5 stars is because the ball head is pretty garbage. My FujiFilm x-t2 with the 10-24mm is not secure if the camera is angled anywhere but straight ahead. The camera moves the ball head pretty easily even when I tighten the adjustment knob as hard as I can. I decided to just use my old ball head from my other tripod. If I didn’t have another ball head I would have just returned it. The ball head might work better with smaller cameras like a GoPro or something.

Già possessore di treppiede Manfrotto (quasi 2 Kg di peso), cercavo un articolo più piccolo e leggero per alleggerire l'equipaggiamento fotografico. Con l'acquisto del SIRUI Compact Traveler 5C, ho risolto il mio problema (850 gr). Cmq, c'è da dire che il Manfrotto mi da il senso di stabilità maggiore, infatti lo uso per foto molto impegnative e con situazioni ventose. Il nuovo SIRUI Compact Traveler 5C invece, lo utilizzo per uscite dove non ci siano molti disturbi esterni. E comunque nello zaino, o in mano, è leggerissimo! Sono molto soddisfatto!

Tengo un trípode de la marca “SIRUI” y tengo tiempo con el. Solo que es grande y no es para viaje. Compre este porque quería algo mas pequeño y transportable. Es super ligero y no pesa nada. Esta ideal para viajar!!! Ya quiero estrenarlo en mi viaje a Peru !!

Gd value and high quality

This Sirui Compact Traveler 5C tripod is a fantastic find! I needed a lightweight, full-size tripod that could handle my medium-weight camera setup for travel, and this one fits the bill perfectly. The carbon fiber construction is incredibly sturdy without being bulky, and it packs down surprisingly small. I love how the legs twist to extend – it takes a bit longer than clips, but the mechanism feels very secure and well-designed. While it's perfect for my needs, I'm not sure how well it would hold up with a very heavy camera and lens combo. However, for those with mirrorless or lighter DSLR setups, I highly recommend it. The compactness and portability are outstanding, and it feels very stable and reliable in use.
