A La Maison Ceilings R31 Chestnut Grove Foam Glue-up Ceiling Tile (256 sq. ft./Case), Pack of 96, Plain White

We did these in other areas of our home. They went up easy no issues. They were different manufacturers and for some reason these would not stick. I bought every adhesive out there and had nothing but trouble. We did get the job done and it does look very nice.

Trust the process guys! At first, you’re going to get these at your doorstep, open it up and be like “WTH?” Your hysband might ask you why you just bought $140 worth of steep foam and you’re going to question yourself. Just put them up! They will look amazing and not as cheap as you thought! Make sure you only use glues that can adhere to this material. Loctite all purpose is what I used and also if you chose to paint- only water based paints to keep this stuff from melting! Dry technique is the best. I was worried about them being so large and hard to hold up on the ceiling until they dry, but the lightweight material make it so you don’t even have to hold it up! Be careful when cutting! I can’t upload my final photo for some reason. Bleh. I will keep trying! But even the inbeteeen photo looks good (:. FYI I’ve never posted a review but because I was so skeptical and this worked great, I just had to!

Looks too much like cheap paper plates

Was nervous when seeing mixed reviews, but these tiles are fantastic! First out of the box I was still a little skeptical, but I unwrapped and temporary taped one in place to try it in for size. I loved it! Super light weight and easy to work with. I prepainted before pressing in place. If you’ve ever done ceramics, you’ll understand to use an almost dry brush approach, which basically means less is more. The color I chose was an off white and could use a second, lighter coat that I plan on applying after I finish calking the seams. I would also recommend painting the original ceiling the same color so there’s more of a uniform look, but isn’t necessary if you plan to calk. The products site recommends Loctite Power Grab that worked really well. I applied heavier dots on the outer 4 corners and smaller dots around the sides and then more on the inside raised portions of the panel that would be in contact with the ceiling. I also noticed a few scratches on 3 of the tiles, which I painted and placed them off to the side, and was able to make good use of them by cutting off the damaged portions and using the good parts in places where they were needing to be cut to fit. My only disappointment is that more of my ceilings are not as hideous as my dining room used to be, I would love to cover my whole house. I’ll need a few more boxes, as I’m doing a little at a time, but it’s going to look fantastic when it’s all finished!

These tiles do not line up properly. The sides are slightly curved so the tiles are not square. It's maddening! Takes forever to make corrections to the pieces and I'm sick of it. What should have taken a few hours to install and paint has taken nearly 2 weeks and barely have a third of the ceiling done in one room. I do not recommend La Maison foam tiles! I have used some made by Antique Ceilings that were far superior, but more expensive. Next time I do a renovation project, I'll get the foam tiles from Antique Ceilings. This product purchased on Amazon is garbage and I'm not pleased. I will pass the info on to all of my contacts in real estate and design!!

Don’t listen to negative reviews! Yes! It is foam, but it is very thick and durable, if the person applying it isn’t trying to break it! I added a photo to show thickness! I almost didn’t buy it because of the negative reviews, glad I took a chance and I love the way it looks! Cuts easily, extremely lightweight, you don’t have to worry about weight pulling it away from the glue and easy to apply! Made my ceiling look expensive! Will purchase again for other projects! Only negative is the price, it is expensive for what it is, but it’s less expensive than having actual drop ceilings!

Sadly, not at all like the picture shown on website or in the promo video. A foam cup is sturdier. We thought for what price we paid it would have been sturdier than cheap Styrofoam. But it is exactly that cheap, flimsy, Styrofoam and personally not for me.

I don’t mind that they are thin, or difficult to trim, but they aren’t quite square either......terrible product, if I could do it over I’d buy the PVC ceiling tiles...
