Don’t buy the dvd, if you have a Blu-ray.
The 2.40 widescreen ratio version on Blu-ray is the ONLY way to watch this movie. A full screen dvd is half the movie and unbalanced dialogue, audio, and music. Great print with amazing sound. (The sing-along option is cute, if you’re into that. 🤫)

Annie is a classic and is even better on Blu-ray
Annie is a classic and is even better on Blu-ray. As I say to my coworkers for most movies (there are a few I have had that look like they took the DVD and copied it to Blu-ray, they were that blurry), "it's the best it's ever looked". I think this, as most Blu-rays, look better than what was available in the theaters, at least for older movies. The sound was OK, nothing really outstanding, but at least the video was really good.

My favorite movie
Annie i still one of my favorite movies! Watching this movie brings back so many memories. I went to the theater with my Grandmother to see Annie when I was 7 years old....seems just like yesterday tho! Now I have children of my own. We don't ever agree on a movie but my kid all love to watch Annie just as much as I do. After watching this at the theater, my Grandma bought me the Annie dress which was an exact replica of the red dress that wa worn by Annie....I loved to wear that dress!

Great movie, poor sound quality
Great story, great characters, great music. However, I'm very disappointed at the very poor sound quality of this recording. It is all treble and bass. Conversations and songs found line they are coming out of tweeters rather than mid-range speakers. A musical of this caliber needs better sound quality.

Simple, fun and educational...a must for kids, even adults!!!!
One of the best videos if not the best my 6 yr. old daughter and 2 and a half year old son have ever watched. They watch it over and over while my son takes his Asthma medicine via nebulizer. It keeps him still and happily cooperating. They love it. They even pretend to be the characters when they are playing together. As parents, we love it! It teaches a lot about safety, what to do when in distress of so many kinds. It instills good behavior and fosters good characters. We highly recommend it. Thanks for making simple, fun and educational videos like this.

Feelgood Family Film
This is a nice little family film with a feelgood vibe. The young orphan Annie (Aileen Quinn) manages to escape from her orphanage and brings cheer to the life of billionaire businessman Oliver Warbuck (Albert Finney). The rags to riches story isn't new, but it's nice to see a ballsy girl as the lead character. And thankfully one who wins over everybody's hearts with her personality rather than angelic good looks. Also rather fun is Mrs Hannigan (Carol Burnett), who runs the orphanage. Thankfully it's not an evil nun this time but an (equally evil) alcoholic slattern. As musicals go I didn't find any of the songs particularly memorable, but they're pleasant enough. The same goes for the singing performances. The choreography, on the other hand is rather excellent. The cast is solid, especially Carol Burnett who is hilariously OTT (and colourful in every sense of the word). Aileen Quinn is likable as Annie, Tim Curry is fun in a rather small supporting role and it's always nice to see Albert Finney (almost unrecognizable here with a clean shaven head). Not John Huston's best film, but if you're looking for a bit of light entertainment and escapism for a long Sunday afternoon you could do a lot worse than this.

Great film - not a great copy
Review for the Aileen Quinn - Special Anniversary Edition DVDFirst off, I adore this film. I burnt out multiple VHS copies and decided I needed a DVD version in order to share this wonderful with some of the younger members of my family (particularly one who enjoyed the 2014 remake). The film itself is great, perfect for children and any adults who enjoy a great musical. No it isn't exactly identical to the stage version that it is based on, however, I actually prefer this version.THAT BEING SAID - there are sections of speech/song in this movie that are either made unnecessarily quiet or silenced completely. During 'Hard Knock Life', a lot of Molly's speech is affected by this, which to someone who knows the film almost word for word, it is seriously irritating. If you've never seen it before, you probably wont even notice; but for fans, it can get fairly annoying.

Annie Blu Ray - Soundtrack is a Disappointment
We purchased the Blu Ray as it is a family favouite. First, the picture quality is very good, sharp and with very little grain with a vivid colour palette. However the soundtrack is very disappointing on this disc compared to the standard DVD version. On my THX 9.2 surround amp the soundtrack is locked into a 4.0 DTS Master playback mode and cannot be changed so there is no rear surrounds. Also the sound is rather lackluster and lacking in bass and often looses sync with the picture. Carole Burnette steals the film as Miss Hannigan. We will probably wathch the standard DVD rather than the blu Ray when the time comes round to watch the film again. Stick with the standard DVD folks...Or better yet get it on Sky Movies HD where it does have a full 5.1 surround track and a pretty decent HD picture.

Annie
OMG I loved this film as a kid and now I am 24 I still love it and I don't think that will ever change.Annie is a well known story of a little orphan girl living in New York which is run by a drunk woman called Miss Hannigan. Annie has always dreamed that her true parents, would one day show up and claim her, and that they will have a big house and lots of money. However when Annie goes to stay with Oliver Warbucks a millionaire Miss Hannigan and her brother decide to pretend to be Annie's parents (Mr and Mrs Mudge) and kidnapp Annie for the reward money Mr Warbucks is offering to Annie's real parents. Annie has many adventures and encounters a number of colourful characters. This is an uplifting and heart-warming film which will delight everyone. If you have not seen it you are missing out on an amazing movie
