Oral Breeze HydroCare Shower Water Flosser and Oral Irrigator

Don't let the reasonable price fool you - this unit is well worth your consideration. It was shipped promptly, and even included a small roll of teflon tape to make the installation hassle-free, even for those who laugh when asked if they would classify themselves as "handy" around the house. The metal fitting and valve seem to be high quality, at least based on finish, fit, and heft. It goes on BEFORE the shower head, so you're getting the benefit of the full house water pressure, all going through a very small-opening pik. I recommend following the directions, and starting off with it on low pressure - you can always turn it up without any problem. After using it, I have to admit to being puzzled as to where the water goes if you use a plug-in unit at the sink - with this, since you're in the shower, it doesn't matter where the excess water goes. Prior to purchasing it, I was torn between this and a motor-operated unit; I'm glad that I went with this. I can't imagine any part of it ever breaking, whereas with a motor unit, they probably wear out or break after some amount of usage. You should be sure to drain this out if you'll be away for more than a few days - after turning the water off at the faucet, open the valve and hold the pik part down; when it's done, be sure to close the valve, to avoid having the pik do a wild snake impression when you next turn on the water. I know, you're still wondering - so, does it work? I haven't been to the dentist since purchasing the unit, so I can't say for sure. But I believe it's working. It's probably VERY good for people with bridges or other such dental work. And yes, it really does clean grout (hold it at an angle for the best effect) - but if you want to do that, get the longer hose version...

Let the Pro at your dentist office wield the high power blaster, you can do daily maintenance with ease and safety. Oral Breeze makes the sink and also the shower types of set-up. Personally I tend to make a mess at the sink, so the shower type is what I went with. Installation: is a snap, no tools, from open package to finished in less than 10 minutes. Usage: very easy to use, turn the lever to the desired pressure, wash out the bits from between the gum and tooth, the only bad thing is getting used to the "tickling" of the water jet. Get finished and switch it off, hang the end up, and finish your shower. -- if I were at the sink it would be "switch it off and clean up the splatter" - thats why I'm in the shower. As an added Bonus: Made in the USA, with real metal, by veterans. Bonus. Update months after begin use: Note that the hose has a coil effect, this is to keep it out of the way, the hose is not designed to be pulled/ yanked. Have gotten used to the "tickling" of the water stream, and overall --not by itself, but in conjunction WITH brushing and flossing (is to massage the gums between teeth not just dislodge bits) aka; by adding this inexpensive and functional tool, my mouth feels much healthier and cleaner. Glad I made this purchase.

This is my first oral irrigator of any kind, so I can't really compare it with any other waterpiks or anything like that. Overall I am happy with this product. I've had it a few months and it works as advertised. It was easy to install and I like how I don't have to worry about spraying water everywhere when using it. I also like that it's always hooked up, all you have to do it turn the switch to turn it on. It makes your teeth feel really clean and you just feel good when you use it. You can also use it as a high pressure sprayer to clean your shower with. I'd recommend the longer one if you have a big shower and want to use it for that though. My only complaint is that the sticky backing on the holder for the irrigating heads fell off the shower wall after a few weeks, even though I made sure the wall was really dry when I applied it. So now I either have this tube hanging in the shower or I have to wrap it around something random in the shower so it doesn't get in the way. Also the thing is pretty ugly to have in your shower. The rubber hose is a horrible color. I wouldn't buy this if you ever have guests using your shower. It's kind of an eyesore. Overall I recommend this. It's convenient and easy to use and reasonably priced.

I have been using WaterPik's for years and this seemed like perfect alternative. The problem with the Waterpik is you have to get it from the cabinet, set it up, plug it in, and then flush it out afterwards - so I found I was not using it as often as I wanted. I bought this to solve that problem. I've seen others complaining about reduced pressure and inflexible hoses, but mine was great, the hose was nice and flexible and I have noticed no reduced flow. But it does have one major fatal flaw... it does not spray a fine jet of water, but rather a big fan. This means it doesn't actually penetrate between your teeth like a real Waterpik does, and it also means all the little fine "fans" of water coming out of the nozzle tickle the inside of your mouth like CRAZY. The tickling sensation is like electricity running through your mouth. These two flaws combine to make it a product you tend to avoid using and tend to use as quickly as possible, which is precisely what I was trying to solve in buying it. But the worst problem is the fan-shaped flow of the nozzle means it does nowhere near as good a job as a waterpik does. After using my Waterpik, my breath is fresh and great. After using this, I still feel sticky residue between teeth. It came with both a red and blue tip - I tried both and they have *DRAMATICALLY* different water patterns. One is high flow, the other has very very little flow. They have very different shapes of water coming out of them and very different quantities of water. This leads me to believe the claimed "dentist recommended water shape" is nothing of the sort, and just the result of loose tolerances and lower quality material used on the nozzles. On the other hand, Waterpik nozzles are smooth as glass and very precisely made. I don't really see the reason for this to have it's own nozzle design in the first place... why not just make it compatible with existing Waterpik nozzles? Or at least sell an adapter to let people use the real high quality Waterpik nozzles with this hose/adapter?

I recently decided to return my waterpik because the unit broke for a second time. I thought this would be a great low cost alternative and for the most part it works well. The attachments go on/come off easily and installation was very easy. The valve on the top is very study and made of metal. NIcely matches any metal shower heads, etc you might attach it too. It is very sensitive though - we only have to turn it ever so slightly before the water pressure coming out the other end is too much to bear. This will of course vary by water pressure, but I wouldn't say ours is more than average. The hose feels a bit cheap, and looks like it might go a cream colour rather quickly. It also comes spun up in the package and doesn't appear to be losing its shape any time soon. This might work for you, or it might not. If you had visions of the hose dangling straight down along side the removable shower head, think again its going to stay curled. The floss head is also made out of plastic and feels a bit cheap. When using the device it tickles my gums, more so that the waterpik ever did. It feels like the cheap cut at the end of the pick is causing the jet of water to fan more than it should which might be hitting my gums at the same time it does my teeth. The instructions say this is a possible side effect that you will get use too however I have not as yet. It just means I have to take mini 5 second breaks in between uses. Over all, considering the cost, its an okay unit. I'll continue to use it and hopefully the tickling will go away!

My wife has a tooth implant which has caused issues with her gums. Her dentist suggested purchasing a water pik to promote gum health. We're both pretty bad at remembering to floss (I'm good at remembering actually... but I still don't do it). Long story short, we ended up buying the Showerbreeze because of the high ratings and low price. And after watching some sales videos of people trying not to spray water all over the place with handheld and sink mounted options, this seemed like the most care/cleanup free route. We received one red and one blue pik. My package did come with teflon tape (another reviewer mentioned this was not included in theirs) and everything else shown in the product pictures with the exception of the suction cup holders for the piks (shown in the main image). It did come with a double sided tape hanger shown in some of the later product images which works fine, but is a bit more permanent and install. My box also included a toothpaste squeezer (took me a while to figure out what it was). Installation was pretty simple, just unscrew the shower head, and screw their valve in between. My shower head is the handheld style, and it took some fiddling with the gaskets the shower head used to have a leak-free install. Overall though it was a simple task which didn't require any tools, just some strong hands. The valve has three positions allowing for the shower head to be running by itself (one end), the pik to be running by itself(other end), or the shower and pik to be running at the same time (middle position). The valve can be adjusted around the middle position to fine tune pressure if you desire to do so. I've been using the showerbreeze for about two and a half weeks now, and my teeth feel pretty good. I'm especially glad we went with the shower option since it really does pump out a large volume of water into your mouth. I have well water and my water pressure isn't very high, but this think sprays pretty hard regardless. I'm afraid to use it on the pik-only (middle) setting of the valve as the pressure is way too high. I tested it out on the bathroom wall and my shower head's hose and it does a pretty good job of ripping through soap scum! You could definitely use it to clean your bath tub (6ft option to reach the back). With so high a pressure I'd be worried it would rip off the crown I have or something. It's not a bad thing using the shower & pik valve position though since you can have nice warm water running over you while you're working on your teeth. My next dentist appointment is in a few months, so I'm interested to see if my dentist notices any improvements. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. You can't beat the price and the company is in the USA so that's a plus. Not to mention that I'm actually cleaning between my teeth daily, something I haven't been able to force myself to do ...ever. I can't imagine doing this over a sink... but it's perfect in a shower.

Easy install but completely broke after 1 year. After about 6 months, I could only adjust the valve if the water was turned off.

I attached this to a handheld shower head and have had it for a year. It does not interfere with the flow through the shower head when the ShowerBreeze is not on. Attaching it was easy though I did need two tries to add more plumbers tape for a better seal and I did need a wrench to (carefully) get it tight enough, though it said not to use one. But I did not have the strength to get it that little bit of extra turn that was needed. Since then, it never has leaked and it does work with the hand held shower heads. The 3 foot hose is plenty long enough. I use the lever for turning it on and off to hang the hose off of it rather than use the supplied hanger. This helps me to remember to turn off the lever. It is a wild beast if you forget and it is on when you turn on the shower! The stream is powerful. Turn it on with it out of your mouth and pointed away from you to first judge the strength of the stream or it could hurt. The wider open you have the lever, the stronger the stream. It really does get your teeth cleaner. I love this thing. And being in the shower, you do not need to worry about causing a mess. Just be aware of where you are pointing it. I also have a permanent retainer glued to the back of my front teeth, top and bottom. This cleans between the wire well. I can see this working with braces, though start with a gentle setting and work up, just in case. An additional bonus is that after turning off the shower, I can open the lever to "on" and water will better drain out of the faucet and shower head hose ( which is left hanging down for this). This leaves less water sitting in there in between and hopefully less of a chance for bacteria to grow. Just remember to turn it back off. It only takes a few seconds. After a year of use, the plastic tip is holding up just fine. Unless you chew on it or bang it around, I do not see where it would wear down or warp fast. I have not touched the second one it came with.
