Could anyone tell me how to convert this to a monopod please?

Traveler 5A and Traveler 5C can't convert to monopod. Traveler 7A and Traveler 7C tripod can convert to monopod by screwing together the center column and the removable tripod leg, very easy to convert.

Is this tripod good for travel?

Yes, it has a carry bag and lightweight, pretty easy to transport. I fine it ideal for use with a compact camera - perhaps not so much with a large DSLR.

Would it be possible to mount a fluid head on to this tripod ?

Should be fine. The ball head is removable and replaceable, it has a standard screw fitting.
