10 Inches Straight Draw Shave Tool

Excellent
Some of these people are crazy. I did not expect much from this. I was initially concerned that it was dull and they simply painted over the edge. After a good number of passes, I wore off the pain covering the edge (normal use) as the paint came off the cutting edge it preformed better and better. I have done several black walnut logs 30" wide and between 10' and 16' long. Also a few butternut logs or roughly the same dimensions but maybe a touch smaller. I HAVE NEVER SHARPENED IT ONCE!!!! It holds a good edge. It's not sharp like a precision chisel but it does not need to be!!!?? I also rounded a lot of corners to make some rustic benches, well over 150' if lined up... Again, not sharpened once. I finally dulled the blade today. I used it other than intended to scrape some industrial film off a pipe. That is a job that usually takes 2 people 12hrs. I did it solo in about 8hrs with this thing. It was metal on metal and at a high angle to scrape. I rounded a decent butt on the edge doing so. A quick pass with a good file cleaned it right up..... If I were to do fine wood working I would probably want something better but would expect to pay mid hundred dollars or so. That is not what this is..... If you are debarking a tree, it is amazing right out of the box. I would have been happy paying twice as much..... As to the people who clamed to ruin the edge on some nots, you were either EXTREMELY unlucky or you didn't realize that you did indeed cut though a nail. Now that messed mine up (again MY FAULT) I am about to buy another. That is why I'm leaving a comment now. I will say, I prefer to use it upside down and hold an angle myself, it seems to work better that way. I am also doing rather large logs. It would be nice if it were slightly wider but, if you are doing normal size logs, this will work just fine. It still works fine on the larger logs, just need to be mindful of some nots on the side so you don't bust up your knuckles. Good luck all and definitely a great choice for down and dirty stuff.

Works great, easy to assemble.
I got this as a birthday gift for my dad, he said it works great and does exactly what it’s suppose to do. I assembled it for him, it was super easy. I did have to use a wrench “which isn’t included” to tighten the bolts on the handle but some pliers would work as well. we have already placed an order for the curved one for him as a Christmas gift.I did ask him about the sharpness as I saw where some people in the reviews had an issue with it, he said it it worked perfectly right out of the box. He used it to strip bark off some logs for a barn he is building. overall great purchase!

Works great after some elbow grease.
It came with some really thick paint that was a lot harder to strip than it needed to be and needed sharpening with a good file, a ceramic stone and finishing on a strop. Holds an edge better than I expected, but touches up easily with a good stropping.

Nice little saw
I bought this for my son in law and he likes it a lot and uses it almost daily.

Easy to use
Well the wood trimmer is fine but you do need to sharpen the blade once you get it. Also it has some rubber something covering the blade as well. O one final thing to mention is that you will need a hex head wrench to tighten down the handles.

Blade dulls quickly
I bought this for bowmaking and have used it successfully, however I've found the blade needs to be resharpened every time I use it. The edge doesn't hold and gets dull quickly. I bought a vintage draw knife off ebay for the same price as this, and that one has held an edge much better.

The cost
Looks good will try soon for Bow making.

A bit deceptive! Not even sharp!
Some of these pictures are just taken of a different draw knife I think... The picture shows it is a nice shiny steel on the bevel itself but in fact it is black like the rest of the blade and I have multiple draw knives and this is the first one I ever purchased that I need to give it a good sharpening before I even use it the first time... I haven’t used it yet but it isn’t sharp, it also seems to have a different angle than any other curved draw knife I own and I have four or five now in total... It seems curved more than it should be and the fact that the pictures are deceptive and to me they just used pictures of a draw knife they found online because it is the same pictures I see on other draw knives on Amazon that are more expensive but it isn’t that knife they send you.... I am not sure, I may send it back before even trying it but am not sure, it may be decent after I give it a good sharpening but who buys a knife that you need to sharpen before ever even using it and the whole different pictures in some photos is a bit deceiving and kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth... Feels like a greasy company to me so far, maybe they will see my comment and try to make things right, but it doesn’t seem like they have been selling them long on Amazon so the whole credibility is already leaving something to be desired.... If they address the issue and make things good, I will update my review, but seriously thinking about just getting a refund... Seriously...? I have to sharpen it myself? The steel and sturdiness of the tool seems to be good, but won’t ever know if I don’t ever try it because of the deceit from the get go.... I see there isn’t many reviews yet, so hopefully they will be a bit more honest with the photo’s and send out sharp knives to their customers before too many people try and get fooled and leave more reviews like this one... Can’t say I am impressed so far... You better know how to sharpen these things yourself before you decide to order this one... We’ll see if they give me a reason to change and update my review in a positive way, but this is what it is right now... Will give it a couple days and if nothing, I will be sending it back for a refund before I bother sharpening and using it... Not at all what I expected....

Update- Not so Good product
It arrives on time as expected in new condition. The blade' sharp edge were protected with some rubberized paint, & elastic sheath.Easy to operate on any size of a log. Good for the price.Update:- BUT...- attention to buyers! - if you willing to accept a low quality (soft steel) material, that have been used with this product, - go ahead and waste your money. After a two times used/tested, I am going to return it. Dents on the cutting edge shows how soft the steel is.

ITEM WAS VERY DULL WITH NO SHARPENED EDGE UNDER RUBBER BLADE GUARD
THE DRAW KNIFE WAS UNUSABLE AS DELIVERED AND REQUIRED A LONG PROCESS TO REMOVE THE THICKLY PAINTED CUTTING EDGE THAT WAS ROUNDED OFF AND WAS UNUSABLE IN DELIVERED CONDITION.I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS AGAIN AND I WILL HAVE TO FILE AND HONE CUTTING EDGE TO MAKE USABLE.

made of mild (soft) steel
I bought this item recently and attempted to use it to debark 10-15' long Balsam Fir sticks. It is newly cut softwood for a rail fence; very small knots, less than then size of a pencil in diameter mostly. And it is a softwood. Very soft. The very first knot I encountered folded the edge over completely. I tried to fix it with my axe file, only to find the steel so soft that it quickly happens again. I only have a small job, 30-40 sticks to peel. This will not do the trick, unfortunately. I didn't expect much for the money, but this is not usable.Very disappointed
