Very nice and effective blade sharpener that is easy to use.
This is a very good blade sharpener. Before you buy this, you should be aware it's not a quick fix, just like any blade shapener, it takes some time to do, Also, it does create quite a bit of shavings from the blade, but that is to be expected most of the time. I do however really like how you can change the angle for it, that makes it very useful for different types of blades, the only issue I have is that as you pull it through you have to be mindful not to hit the plastic as the end of it, but that is just a error on my end, overall I think this is a very good product, espeaxily for its size as you can bring it with you in a backpack, so I definitely reccomenhd it, it was even able to for the most part a nic in my blade I had. I have included photos of the product, my blade, and the dust it creates.

Easy to use, decent performance
I'm coming at this as someone new to knife sharpeners. My current sharpeners are all fixed angle, single-stage, tungsten carbide type, like the AnySharp, so going to 2-stage and variable angle is a double upgrade. So far, I have only tested this on my kitchen knives. This Smith's sharpener is easy to learn and use, and it's possible to sharpen a knife within a minute. It's also the only "pull-through" style sharpener that lets you adjust the angle. I feel this performs better than my other sharpeners and my knives are sharper.Compared to the famous Spyderco Sharpmaker, this was half the price and can sharpen to more angles, the main reason I didn't get the Sharpmaker. It's also much easier to learn and use. However, I suspect it does not sharpen to as high a sharpness. Maybe my knives aren't good enough, or I chose the wrong angle, or I'm not patient enough - I can't get my knives to "shaving sharp" like people can with the Sharpmaker. Not an issue for kitchen knives, though, where shaving sharp would last maybe 5 cuts.My complaints so far:-People say the black/coarse/carbide sharpener will wear away your knives quickly. Indeed, I see metal turnings at this slot. You may be wary of this if you have very very expensive knives. But I don't intend to use this slot often, mainly touching up with the fine slot, so it doesn't bother me.-Hard to sharpen the tips of knives, especially if your knife has a tip near the handle. This tip is useful for opening packaging and removing labels. On the whole, this sharpener is good for newbies and those not too particular about their knives.

WORTH IT
Bought this thing to see it was worth the hype and I wasn't disappointed. Works great and does exactly what I need it to do, put a nice edge on my knives!

Excellent!
Having the ability to adjust the angle is amazing. I would consider myself a novice at sharpening blades, but this makes it super easy. This does not give the same edge as some good quality stones I've used, but its a good working edge. I wanted to stress test it a bit, so I put a 17" Kukri through both the course and fine, and it sharpened it nicely! Granted, I'm not going to use that edge (way to small of a bevel to hold the edge for long), but I wanted to try it out to see if it could do it. Afterwards, I sharpened my pocket knife and a hunting blade with it, performed wonderfully. (Please note: it is NOT recommended to sharpen a large blade like that with this product, and it could damage the blade or the sharpener. Dont do it unless you are willing to take the risk as I was)I highly recommend this product for those that like the convenience of pull through sharpeners and anyone who needs a good working edge on their blades. The adjustable angle is the huge selling point on this product, so spend the extra few bucks and purchase a quality product from Smith's. I use Smith's stones as well and they have been just great. This product is excellent for the beginner, and a good backup/everyday use for the expert sharpener.

Love this sharpener
The only sharpener I've found that has adjustable degrees for different types of knives at a reasonable price...Wow, that run on sentence was almost as bad as the cut on my thumb from the first knife I sharpened.BE VERY CAREFUL, at its finest setting, this will sharpen your knife to filet sharpness, we're talking almost razor sharp, and by razor, I mean an actual razor blades sharpness, like Stephen Hawking sharp....Made the mistake of sharpening my EDC at the sharpest setting and damn near severed my thumb... well, maybe not severed, but oooooooo, imagine like the worst paper cut of your life, I didn't even feel it until I saw the blood start to..... Ok, im not gonna get to graphic you get the point...Great sharpener, just don't be a moron like me and try to sharpen all your knives at the sharpest setting...Oh and it has held up quite well as of this review I have had it about 8 months, there is one thing, the little twisty knobby thingy will pop off like an 18 year old on prom night, no joke, I have dropped it a few times and every time I have crawl around and figure out where the hell that little knob went...also, haven't had to replace the stones yet, but I like that feature, the ability to replace just the stones you need, seems like a nice touch, although like I said, I haven't had to do that yet personally.
