Farm Sound Puzzle - Wooden Peg Puzzle with Sound Effects (8 pcs)

My child loves it. In half a day, she was able to figure out how to put together puzzles correctly. She is 17 months old. This is exactly what I was looking for for her age. The only cons that I noticed is that the animals always start making sounds when the child brings something to it. It could just be her hand or a wrong image of another animal. For example, if you bring a cat to a dog, the cat still barks. This can be confusing for a child who is just learning about animals. It would be nice if, in case of an error, there will be some other sound or something like "oops, it's not right, let's try again".

My littles die for this puzzle. The animal shapes are super cute and a good size for small hands to grip. As with all Melissa and Doug products the craftsmanship was impeccable. I will say the cons are the pieces can be a bit sensitive at times and will sound without provocation, but that's an easy fix, turn it off.

Returned the 1st one we got. It looked like we had received a used one when we had selected new. We tried again and I'm happy we did. The 2nd one we could clearly tell was brand new. It works really well and our toddler loves it. One note is you need plenty of light above the puzzle for the nosies to work. If it's too dark, it won't activate.

My nephew absolutely loves these sound puzzles; it is a lot of fun for him, and he will laugh and have a good time whenever we pull it out. You'll have to buy your own batteries (triple A). Pros- There is an "off" switch in the back so you won't hear random noises going off such as in the middle of the night. Also when a sound is playing, no other sounds can play so you won't have any interruptions. The knobs are a good size for little hands/fingers and catch the baby's attention so they'll experiment/play with it. Cons- The sounds do seem triggered by "light," so if you cover the centermost piece of the figure/animal with anything, even a hand or the wrong puzzle piece, the animal noise will go off. Also, although this happens rarely, sometimes the wrong animal noise will come up. Overall, the puzzle has been working for the most part and we really enjoy putting it to daily use.

As with all M & D toys, this puzzle is well made and engaging for toddlers. The size of the pieces is perfect for small hands. Toddlers can match the picture to the piece and be rewarded with the sound of the animal. Great quality!

I had to edit my review. At first I wasn’t happy because the sound didn’t seem to be working. After reading the back of the puzzle though, I realized it needs bright lighting in order to make the sounds. Now that I know this, I give this toy 5 stars. The puzzle pieces are easy to put in and take out. The colors are vibrant and eye catching. It will be a great tool to help my son learn animals and what’s sounds they make.

I was really excited about this. I have always loved puzzles or so I’m told. I was excited to share this love with my little one. The board itself is good quality. It wood which is nice. And it’s fairly thick so it hasn’t broken after a month of use where somehow he seems to break other things easily. The pieces fit nicely into their coordinating spot. The pictures are good quality making it clear what they are. So why did I rate this so low? I’m not sure if I misunderstood when I purchased it but the sounds are triggered by movement over them. So even if it’s the wrong piece, if it blocks it sensor without going in, it makes the sound of what should fit in the hole. Thus if trying to find the right spot, you block the sensor of a different animal, it makes it sound of that different animal. So when he is trying to find the right spot for the horse, he may hear a duck quack. If not long enough has passed for the duck noise to stop and he finds the correct spot for the horse, it won’t make the horse sound. He only hears the correct animal about a third of the time when he finds the right spot. Also, it only works in very very bright light typically. Given it is winter it doesn’t work most the day unless I have it close to a lamp. I live in an oldish home so there is not overhead lighting in the living room. When the sun is shining into the window, it works. However, when the out door light starts to diminish about 2 o’clock, the board will start randomly going off if all pieces are not in their spots. It may sound off in bright light if the dog walks over it. If the sounds were triggered, another way, I would love this board.

Siempre recomiendo esta marca, para mi es garantía y mis hijas tienen colección de juguetes de Melissa and Dough pero en esta ocasión compramos este rompecabezas para regalo de mi sobrina y llegó roto de una esquina, la madera de veía de mala calidad, no pudimos devolverlo xq ya viajaban de regreso a casa a USA y ya no había tiempo y así se lo llevaron pero es el único juguete de esta marca del que podría quejarme, además no se xq estaba solo este diseño mi hoja tiene el puzzle con sonidos pero rojo y los dibujos son más lindos, los sonidos de mejor volumen y el material de mejor calidad, este no lo recomiendo mcho

My grandkids like this puzzle. The sounds are light sensitive so will be triggered even with the wrong piece - but it is the right sound for the spot so not a big deal.

Die Bilder von diesem Puzzle sind super. Das ist aber auch das einzigste. Die Geräusche der Tiere sind nicht schön. Zum Teil kann man sie auch nicht erkennen. Und selbst, wenn man ein Tier in die falsche Position stecken möchte, ertönt das jeweilige Tiergeräusch. Des Weiteren, war der hintere Teil nicht richtig zusammen geklebt, so dass man es selber nochmal nachleimen mußte. Zurück schicken wäre wahrscheinlich schwierig geworden, da dieses Puzzle aus England kam und mein englisch nicht so super ist. Ich würde es nicht wieder kaufen.

Quería un juguete de los antiguos para mi hijo, que tuviese los típicos animales y sonidos. Es genial porque se ajustan muy bien los animales además de estar hecho de unos materiales muy buenos.
