Batman a Death in the Family

Very glad I purchased this new copy of the classic 1980's Batman story "A Death In The Family" deluxe edition! Love everything about it and it looks great on my shelf! Can't wait to read it...again! Highly recommended to all! A+++

This is a very underrated storyline and is actually a lot more bang for your buck. Not only does this include the original Death in the family storyline, it also has the Lonely Place of Dying storyline which introduces Tim Drake. I actually enjoy the paper quality of this book, which many complain about. Gives the book a classic quality and very nostalgic to the old comics which used this paper. Art is amazing, especially the splash page where Batman is carrying the lifeless body of Robin. Very sad story, while I would have liked it if the author explored the aftermath of how it effected Batman. Bruce Wayne is kinda cold when his partner dies. He doesn’t shed a single tear in the whole book! Tim drake, a dude who hasn’t even met Jason Todd cries more than the dudes adoptive father. WTF But other than that great book for great price

Fantastic hardcover edition featuring two essential Batman story lines. Death of the Family is an amazing read. I bought this to replace my old tpb. Now DC give us a hardcover of Second Chances!

The book of this the deluxe edition arrived in good conditions, perfect state, complete pages.I like the format of the graphics that seems a comics magazine.

Amazing book, just be careful when ordering because it did not have any protection to for the book inside the package.

This review is for the latest Deluxe Edition released in April 2021 ... I note this because Amazon tends to lump any release with the same name together.With all the troubled sales of DC Comics and after ending its 25 year relationship with Diamond Comic Distributors, you should be aware that there's nothing really deluxe about any DC Comics releases lately. Gone are the thick and semigloss pages ... they're replaced by thin standard white paper (which have a very cheap feel to them). Besides the hardcover art on the front and (previously unreleased image) on the back (pictures I shared), you'll get 5 unreleased alt (uncolored) pages/panels where (Jason Todd) Robin lives, along with the actual ad for voting (if Jason Todd lives or not) and one colored page (also shown on the back of the hard cover).A very un-glorious release. Lucky Amazon had it for half priced. $50 the SRP is a ripoff IMO.

This book was a gift to my son. When he received it, it was missing pages 231-242 and 243 has has a huge cut in it that looks like someone took fancy scissors to it. The top of the book is wavy. VERY disappointed.

I went through my AmZ history, and noticed i bought this TPB in 2012!Gotta have a hardcover!A well collected title that captures one of the most pivotal moments in the Dark Knight's career. What impressed me is that it not only portrayed the event in question, but it also collected the conclusion which filled the void and returns readers to the status quo of the legacy for the character. After this title, the next major arcs come from the Venom arc and Knightfall series.I consider this book the 2nd part in the fall of the Batman, preceded by The Killing Joke and succeeded by Knightfall

Not going to comment on the comic itself, but the quality of the physical book. It is a shame that DC skimps on the quality of this masterpiece by printing on a ‘Newspaper’ like paper. Would appreciate if it is printed on glossy paper, the typical paper quality u would have expected on deluxe edition.
