After moving into our new-to-us house, we quickly realized our aged refrigerator was suffering from a no-ice situation. After doing a little troubleshooting (youtube university) I quickly came to the realization that our old ice maker was dead. I unplugged the fridge and pulled the old ice maker out. The damage was verified when I took the control board off the end and burnt pieces fell out. So I ordered this replacement from Amazon. It arrived quickly and was super easy to reinstall. Within an hour I heard the first drop of ice. I let our ice bucket fill up and dumped the first load to make sure any plastic dust or dirt from manufacturing was good and gone. The next bucket of ice we used and have enjoyed ice ever since. Super affordable and super effective! Just make sure you do your homework on troubleshooting first to make sure it is actually a bad ice maker rather than a bad water valve, or high temp in the freezer, etc. Ice maker is still working great after a few weeks installed, so hopefully it lasts.

Ice maker was easy to install. Glad to have ice again.

I have had to replace my icemaker at least 3 times over the 19 year life of my Kitchen aide frig. So, I am quite familiar with the procedure to replace. I thought I had a home run with this replacement part based on the price point. NOOOO! After about 3 months this unit started groaning loudly struggling-and ultimately failing to eject ice. This, I believe, was due to a faulty and or inadequate heater that allows the ice to release. This resulted in a frozen over flowed ice maker multiple times. A real pain and mess to deal with. Eventually I paid the additional money to purchase an OEM Whirlpool unit from Appliance Parts Pro. It operates perfectly.

I highly recommend this product and am happy with it's functioning so far (3-days). This icemaker fit exactly and was easy to install. There were helpful directions included to help diagnose if you are still having problems after installation. I didn't since I had already isolated the problem to the heating element on the original ice maker. After installing, it was making ice within a couple of hours and has been working great for the past 3 days. I gave it a 4-star instead of 5-star only because the ice tray which gets filled with water is made of plastic whereas my original icemaker was metal with cooling fins to help freeze the water faster. That said, when I looked at other products on the web, I couldn't find any that had the same (original) metal tray with cooling fins. I guess plastic is cheaper and is the norm now. My fridge is 18 years old.

So, I purchased a Supco ice maker and it didn't work. Seeing several kinds on Amazon I requested my money back and bought this one. When received, I opened the box and guess what came out?.... a Supco - same paperwork, same product. It didn't work! I checked all electrical and continuity points as described on YouTube. When considering what to buy I read some reviews saying that these have been sent back for replacement for not working and were received with a refurbished one. One guy had returned three of them before getting a good one. So, I took the chance and sent this second one back for replacement. Finally l received a good one (third one) that worked. My suggestion is to go on YouTube and learn the specs for the inputs on the side of the unit. With a voltage meter you can check voltages and continuity (resistance). It's easy. Then be prepared that the ice maker may not work. At least you know how to check it and send it back for replacement if you have to. Lastly, I've been an aerospace engineer for 35 years. These ice makers could be designed much better but for the cost - that's just the way it is.

My ice maker was leaking water everywhere and my freezer looked like a complete iceberg and I wasn’t sure if it was the maker or the water. I bought this in hopes the water was leaking out of the water tray before the ice froze and luckily I was right. The part seems to be working fine and it’s been a week. It isn’t made of the same material as the original as it seems like all plastic BUT most things are now a day but it works and I’m perfectly happy. YouTube worked great to help me get this in correctly

We finally have ice again, my husband had to do a little altering of it to make it fit, but it is working perfectly now.
