The Loc8tor Plus is the ultimate tool that will help you keep tabs on your children, pets and possessions and is ideal for use at home, out and about or for business. The Loc8tor Plus has two main functions; Locate and Alert mode. Locate mode -- Is for Finding. To find an item, simply select from a drop down list on your handheld which tag you want to locate. Directional audio and visual cues from the handheld will guide you to the exact location of the missing tag. It will literally take you minutes (even seconds) to find things that would normally have you hunting around for hours and maybe never found at all. With amazing accuracy you will be guided to within an inch/2.5cm whether you are indoors or out, in complete darkness or in a noisy room.To find your item turn around in a full circle then walk in the direction the handheld indicates has the strongest signal It'sas easy as that.

better for pets then the "PET" loc8tor
I bought this for my 2 dogs (who like to escape), and 2 cats (that are strictly indoors, so i worry about them getting outside). i went with the "plus" rather then the "pet" because for some reason i can't figure out, it looks like the pet version does NOT come with an ALERT if your pets go too far from home - it ONLY has "locate" for AFTER you've realized someone is missing. also, the plus version comes with FOUR tags, the pet, only 2, and the plus has a greater range (600', vs only 400' on the pet). so anyway, here's what i've found so far:while the display shows 3 "radar" lines, the lines are only for show, it does NOT tell you which way to go. you still have to turn in circles and find the strongest signal.all the measurements (ie: how far are your pets allowed to go; or how close are you to the tag you're locating) are measured by "near, medium, and far". there is NOTHING that tells you what any of them actually means. i THINK they're about 10, 20 and 30 feet, respectively, but i'm not for sure.if you push "locate" to find a tag, the tag itself beeps. you can mute the receiver so you can only hear the tag and move closer to it... this is a great feature, BUT... the tag doesn't beep loud enough. you have to be within a few feet of it to hear it, and if it's in a sofa cushion or something (like if you had this hooked up to your keys/cell phone/remote), you can't hear it at all. kind of defeats the purpose. i also really like that the tag you're locating flashes. great if your pet gets out in the dark.one of the tags has a panic button. again, this would be great for a kid, but not so much for a pet. the one who wears it is always inadvertently pushing the button.the plus version does not come with anything to waterproof the tags. you can buy the splashproof covers from loc8tor.com, but they're kind of expensive and will only fit a small collar, so i wrapped mine in saran wrap. not pretty, but better than nothing.all in all, a lot of great features, and ~I~ think way more PET-friendly then the actual PET version.

Cheaply made, falls apart, Not recommended
I bought the thing to replace a previous Loc8tor. Extra tags are very expensive so I bought the new unit to re-use the same tags. ($$$$$$)(The units are identical) I wish I had known ahead of time that the tags for the old one wouldn't work! A representative of Loc8tor told me that you have to un-register the old tag before you can re-register it with the new unit. But if the old one is in pieces in your hand because it is cheaply made, it's kind of tough. So, throw out any used tags. ($$$$) The new unit itself is made EXACTLY the same as the old one and has problems turning off the unit with the slide mechanism. To be fair, the original Loca8tor worked well for me but the things I need to find are stationary like keys and cameras unlike some of the advertised uses. I'm just ticked at having to buy all new tags for it and the fact that it doubled in price in a little over a year. WAY too much money.Since I wrote the above, the LCD screen failed in the new six month old unit. I sent it back to the seller for repair. NINE MONTHS later, I get an email from them saying the manufacturer doesn't repair screens and it is a total loss and I HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE!!!!! FAT CHANCE!!! Anybody want some unused Loc7tor tags? I am done throwing away money with these people.

My cat Locator
I have about 6 ac of land all fenced in but when my cat is out and about he doesn't want to come in at night which is the best hunting time for mice and rabbits and it is the best time for the coyotes to hunt also. As I said my property is fenced but to be sure I want my cat indoors at night. So the only way I can find him is to use the tracker which works great. I have found him in a tree, under a bush, under the house, other wise without the tracker I couldn't have been able to find him so quickly. I attach it to a harness and the rubber housing that you can order which is a pieces of crap but I warp it in duct tape to keep it intact. Also now that we have used the tracker for awhile he knows when I'm looking for him (it beeps)and he comes out now and comes to the house by himself. I recommend it to anyone that needs to find something. So far the batteries have lasted a long time, very satisfied.

this little product help me to find my cat so many times!
This device look like a cheap china made toy that will not less for long but...Although all the expensive food, toys and plenty of love I give to my cat he likes to run away.Few months ago he was no where to be found.I walked across the whole block with the tracker. in the end of the block the tracker start slightly beeping but I thought it was a mistake, I was too far from my house and my cat never reached this distance. beside... the beep was very low. After hours of searching I got back to the place the tracker beep at first & I found my cat there!Could never found my cat without this stupid tracker.

Almost there
This is kind of clever but it takes practice to get it right. Not trivial. Display is a little hard to see sometimes. But I don't know of anything out there. I use it on the cat's collar when I let him out into an enclosed garden area early in the morning. I just used one wrap of plastic tape to hold the transmitter to a collar and that works fine. But practice. Have someone hide the transmitter and practice finding. What's really hard is to do it in a multi story house!

had to return it because it was defective and didn't work. Was hoping for an upgrade over the credit card loc8tor with the leds that does work. Cheap chinsy quality for how much it cost

Not practical
I bought this thinking it would help find lost and misplaced keys, etc., but it is just not a practical device. You end up misplacing the device just about as easily as you would misplace the keys.

Good Unit
This device is a good unit. We have a cat that doesn't like to stay in the yard and wanders. Now she can be found fairly quickly and brought in for the night. The only downside I found was the batteries in the transmitter were bad right off the bat. Once those were replaced it worked as advertised.
