Every household should have one--great for a lot more than just culinary tasks! Fuel efficient!
This professional handheld butane torch is absolutely wonderful--it's so handy to have around the house! It's definitely great for a lot more than just culinary tasks! The box itself states this butane torch can be used for DIY, BBQ, Welding, Plumbing, Dental Repairs, Jewelry Making, etc., but there are so many more uses that my boyfriend has already found for the torch!My boyfriend spends most of his free time working out in our garage on various projects, I ordered this butane torch for him figuring he'd find many different uses for it, and I was right! The very same day we received this butane torch, he went to Home Depot and purchased a can of butane--you must fill the torch with butane before you can use it. The can of butane only cost ~$3 and filling the torch was super easy (there are clear instructions printed directly on the box). After filling the torch, the can of butane is still more than halfway full and the directions boast a full tank lasting for 60 minutes of use, making this torch very efficient on fuel.Thus far, my boyfriend is very happy with this butane torch and has found so many tasks he's able to do so much easier now that he has this torch as opposed to using a lighter like he's had to do in the past. For instance, he's already purchased heat shrink tubing (for insulating wires) and has found this butane torch the perfect heat source to shrink the tubing.I highly recommend this butane torch--the possibilities are really endless--every household should have one!Disclaimer: I received this product at a discounted price ($.50) in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

Not great and not awful
This torch is basically adequate. Not great and not awful. Not terribly well built, it does not seem as though it will last long. The flame control is a bit quirky. For the money, and considering it was made in China, I suppose it is about all one can expect.

Stopped working after 40 days
This might be good for home use, but in our restaurant (and we only used it for creme brulée) it stopped working after 40 days. Of course that's 10 days too many to return it! Also the fact that if you forget to close the valve it will continue discharging the butane. Not happy with this purchase.

you get what you pay for
Doesn't always work, and very slow to "brulee" the sugar. You get what you pay for so next time I would probably go a little nicer and spend a little extra. But I also don't feel too bad since I didn't spend a lot.

Handy Torch
This torch works great. It's very easy to use. I've used it from making Creme Brulee to starting a camp fire.

Worked Perfectly, 3 times.
Arrived defective. The clicker to light the butane stopped working after 3 uses. It worked great exactly 3 times, then we had to return it.
