Ponderosa: Big Pine of the Southwest

A good read, but I thought this book would present more information and more research.

My husband loves this book. It is a smaller/flatter book so a very easy book to travel with.

This well written book contains a wealth of information about these beautiful and stately trees of the Western US. A good source for the layperson and specialist.

This field-sized book is full of fascinating information on Ponderosa pines and their interactions with other organisms in their ecosystem. Written for the lay reader, it is a great read for anyone who wants to "saunter" through the forest and learn more about the environment around them. Dr. Allred, a retired Professor of Biology, writes as well as he used to teach. A real gem of a book.

Excellent. I live at 8,000 feet in a Ponderosa forest and my appreciation for it has increased immeasurably. There is a lot of stuff going on out there!Well written, good illustrations, easy to read. I met Professor Allred at a lecture and can vouch that he is a charming scholar and gentleman, as well as a very good writer.
