Light on the Guru and Disciple Relationship

I believe this book is more easily comprehended by those who have had some experience with a Guru.There is a great cultural gap in the West with regard to understanding the Guru Disciple relationship. Those who already have an active relationship with a guru or life teacher, or consider themselves to be disciples will, I believe, find this book surprisingly illuminating. The real challenge we face is about removing our self centered small self from out of our own way. It is not natural to us nor are we inclined to succeed on our own. The book explores the different paths to this type of surrender and the writer speaks many times about their own experience with a Guru.

I cannot rate this book highly enough. It's insightful, in-depth, and very meaningful explanation of the Guru-disciple relationship. It includes criteria for the student to look for in a Guru as well as in him/herself. Extremely well written and eye-opening examination of a much misunderstood subject.

I cannot say enough about this book; Swami Sivananda also has a book on guru Disciple relationship. It is a rare topic indeed, buy it if you are on spiritual path and have a teacher mentor or guru disciple relationship. Blessings
