Poop on the stick, or should I say poop disguised as a plastic pump?
Giving this item 1 Star. If I could I would give it 1/10th of a star. From the image, it appears as a decent quality, and pretty useful thing. However, following issues I have encountered with the examination of the pump, and how it arrived.1) It arrived in torn and damaged packaging, internal packaging, being perfectly packaged on the exterior.2) It smelled of gasoline and many other chemicals, very clearly a returned item, my intent was to use it in my indoor "garden" to siphon off some excess water from the self-watering planters, last thing I needed a toxic chemical permeated item to use on it.3) Upon examination of the pump, the hoses, etc: Lets face it, for 17 bucks I did not expect the pinnacle of high quality materials, but I expected something at least standard, well - no dice. The hose material is made of the most low quality plastic I can imagine, it is paper thin, bends so easily it would become brittle, and would break within weeks of use. The connections are shoddy, and beyond cheaply made, and by cheaply I don't mean, "oh look, there are some imperfections to be expected in mass produced items" no, it is "Oh wow, what a POS, I am afraid it will come apart in my hands, and I feel ripped off, when I expected a normal plastic pump and got something made out of Styrofoam" .The price of the item from Amazon is $17.00; this thing must have cost 50 cents to make in some Chinese sweatshop, and if I paid $3 dollars for it, I wouldn't even bother to write a review, would just throw it away. However, taking into account of being inconvenienced by even opening this horror, Amazon should pay me $3 for this review - as to not to disgust any future customers who might even deign to consider to purchase this poop on the stick.

Didn't work when I finally needed it
To be fair, I bought this siphon years ago but stored it safely. When I finally needed it to siphon gas out of my generator, it didn't work. Tested it thoroughly with other fluids and ruled out user error. I think the check valve inside failed. Never got to use it.

Gasoline siphon pump
This gasoline siphon pump works very well. We have a 5 KW gasoline powered standby generator connected to our home electrical system. A certified transfer switch was installed to prevent standby power from feeding into the grid when there is a power failure. We have a 65 imp gallon aluminum gasoline tank in which we maintain an inventory of gasoline to get us through a long duration outage or heaven forbid a serious earthquake (authorities say we will get a biggy someday) We buy standby gasoline in proper gasoline jerry cans & transfer it into the storage tank then add the appropriate amount of stabalizer for the volume stored. About every six months we drain the generator gas tank and fill it with fresh stabalized gasoline. The drained gas is used in either of our vehicles. We do the same thing with the storage tank. Before we bought this pump we used a whirley crank hand pump, it is awkward and started to leak then would not pump (Chinese junk). The pump is a bit slow but does not leak, I have developed a tequnique for draining the gas out of the pump, with the handle pulled out fully remove the suction hose from the tank or jerry can & hold the entire unit up so all the gas runs into the container you are filling.

easy to use, works as described
There was about 3 gallons of gas left in my generator, which I transferred to a gas can. You have to make sure the hoses doesn't come out of the inputs. It was snug but I was working on a cold day below freezing, so the hose was a little stiff. Not a big deal. It works as described and is very easy to use. I tilted my generator to get as much out and the length of hose was perfect. There were several sized hoses and attachments included but I used only the orange hose. I typically don't post reviews after one use, but I foresee not using this a lot, just at season's end when yard gear needs to be drained of fuel for winter storage.

A bit Messy
This system is bit messy spilling gas all over the place. what would have been better is a system to initiate a flow based on atmospheric pressure that you can shut off, or siphon and container that you can reverse the flow when you need to empty it. The issues I has were; 1) tends to bubble and make noise in the tank you are pulling from 2) Gas was getting every where 3) it requires alot of pumping to move any volume of fluid. (That is why I suggested a system that an establish a flow rather than pump continually.)

Works great with one cold-weather caution
The only problem I had with the device was with the tubing...but then again I was attempting to siphon gas from one snowblower into another in -20F temps. The tubes hardened in the cold to the point of being immovable. I took them inside, ran them under hot water to warm them up, then quickly went back outside and arranged them into the necessary shape before they could harden again. Now that it's warm here, that's no trouble. Keep this in mind when you want to use this when it's cold!

Pretty good
I bought this pump to remove the oil from my lawn mower so that I could winterize it. The regular tubes were too big for me to do that, so I had to figure out a new way. Smaller tubes were supplied, but I didn't invest the time to figure out how to use them.I did use the pump to remove gas from the gas tank. It worked well and as described. I'm glad I purchased this one and not the other cheaper ones available.

it doesn't easily come out
The tube is a bit hard, and if it gets a kink from storage, it doesn't easily come out, even with coaxing. Product does what it says, but is not going to be a long-term item.
