The handles were cast iron or steel not quite sure as you’ll see. Sloppy job on the cast and left large seams with extra material which they just put a coat of paint over. Sharp edges on the handle. This didn’t deter me at first as I’m not put off by a little elbow grease and fine tuning so I got it into my vise and began to file down the seams and smooth out the sharp edges to fit the hand better. Got one side done very easily and flipped over and this side is nasty the lines are chunky and irregular. I start to file and go at it and then realize I’m not making much progress. Look at my file and it’s TRASHED. Must have had some carbon in the steel on that side bc it is HARD and wrecked my file. Did my best to finish up and get it back together. This thing is wonky and the tolerances on the adjusters are like really bad. Not even making contact with the blade so it’s practically unusable. I suppose I could have gotten one bad apple out of the bunch but my advice is to pass.

Very good value for money
The body of the tool is good . The blades are a mystery...None are really sharp. ..One of them looks like it was hardened.Anyways ...I sharpened the blade, removed the black color from the sole (find on youtube) and it works wonderful.( My first time with this tool.) The shavings vary and the setup screws do their job.

Easy to get use to.
I Have used it to shape a couple of cigar box necks, it is surty, easy to adjust or change blades. A great price and I like that it came with extra blades.
