Wing Chun Made Easy

Vague, poorly written and not very informative
Firstly those expecting a “book” will be disappointed, as I was. It is more like a small self made pamphlet. The writing is full of spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. It has clearly not been edited and at times it is hard to follow because it is written as if it is being spoken with numerous strange 3 or 4 word sentences which don’t make sense, disjointed flows of thought and colloquialisms which should not be in a book which is trying to convey technical information. How it comes across to the audience has not been considered at all. This book is not a book to teach you wing chun. It attempts to describe various training drills and the authors rather vague “levels” training system, without explaining what any of the moves or shapes are or how to do them (tan Sau, bong Sau etc...). The training drills are vague and hard to picture, which is down to the poor writing style and lack of any thought for the reader, and no images in the entire “book”.The authors “levels” training system is poorly described and unbelievably vague. For instance the Huen Sau stage in “Level 2” states “We all know what Huen Sau is” and then 3 other sentences about staying relaxed and standing still, which is of absolutely no help whatsoever in learning how to do Huen Sau. Also in level 2 in the “Chi Sau” section, it just states “here we introduce chi Sau, both hands working together simultaneously”. It doesn’t offer any more advice or information than that. Time and time again, the book is extremely unclear and Un-informative. I am not entirely sure how this book ever made it to print. For anyone interested in Wing Chun there are far better books available. For anyone interested in learning Wing Chun then this book will probably not help your training in the slightest as it is poorly written, non-descriptive and hard to read because of the poor grammar and structure.I get the impression this is more of a handbook or a “how-to” for the authors actual students, in which case I imagine everything in it will make a lot more sense, as the huge gaping holes in the book will be easier to fill in. However, to everyone else it is just a complete waste of time.

Not so good if you dont know "Wing Chun"..
Not so good if you're a total beginner. The book consists of "descriptions" of stances and punches, therefore not ideal for beginners. For others, it may be of some help..

Wing Chun necessities, all you need and more
Having been a student of Richards I was keen to see how this book would reflect the quality of one of his classes. The book explains all the basics necessary to apply Wing Chun in Street fighting, which let's face it is what we all need in the busy modern day society we live in. The basic hand and foot movements creating the fluidity of Wing Chun is all in there and if you are unsure of the terminology just stick the YouTube videos on to help you along the way.Too many books over complicate and prolong the art of kung fu sacrificing the fundamentals of what it was all about for their own financial reasons. Many martial arts have become lost in the western world of overcomplicated grading systems designed to prolong the time to learn the really important fighting skills needed in everyday situations, Richard manages to bring this back to the real world of martial arts and allows you to become confident in your abilities at an early stage of reading the book.Richard is an honest, no nonsense type of guy and this book fits perfectly in portraying this and is fit for any martial artists collection at helping zone in on creating a fast effective fighting style that if perfected will challenge any person out there who steps over the line no matter on your size, build or gender.Looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

Wing Chun Made Easy ... for sure once you master it.
Honestly, as I always do, good book for sure especially for those who know Sifu Wonnacott. Straight to the point, no flowery stuff as his Wing Chun is,I know that as I been train under many including Sifu Wonnacott. So for those who has train with Sifu not much to say they will read that book with pleasure, for those who don’t know him is a different story which I understand some bad reviews. Is his book, his wing chun no doubt. No diagrams or pictures or his background which I missing this as well in that book but ... for those who don’t know is one of the series of books which they will come more depth on specific topics. So call it Index if you want, quick, short recap of his view, his program.Hard to put a words to the book and explain and show Wing Chun to understand so for sure the book is for “Wingchungers” With a bit of knowledge no matter what lineage.Honestly Im looking forward to all series and for those who thinks is bad book... well everyone is looking for something and we cannot please everyone so come along touch hands, get your feelings then. Im sure Sifu would be happy to give you a teaser of his stuff. Get practice guys 🙏🏻

No illustrations
These books have no illustrations and there are probably better books for those trying to learn Wing Chun at home etc. However, they probably provide reasonable guidance and training plans for those already practicing this art.

My new favourite book
Very good book. Straight To the point. My new favourite and looking forward to the next ones.I like its honest, straight to point write up. How he states it’s not a book full of pics. I like how it’s written in a way that it’s like he’s standing in front of a class speaking. No boring index and references points to keep looking for. A really easy read and it is what it says it is. An introduction to his training levels and a must before you get the step by step editions getting released. It’s a great introduction to the rest of his collection. His step by step guide on Punching, footwork, drills and Fight not flight.I’m really pleased with it and have since joined his Facebook page to get more insight into his Wing Chun. And I’m glad I did. My new Sifu from here on in and looking forward to joining his school.
