They work as expected... configuration research required!
These worked perfectly fine on a BTT Octopus 1.1 for the X/Y steppers.... after a lot of research on configuration. It seems that these use an SPI interface instead of UART. This means that the hardware jumpers must be set to correct positions and also the firmware must be properly configured. This configuration is not well documented, so, happy hunting and good luck!

Worked right out of the box.
Ordered these as a replacement for identical drivers I had on a control board that took a voltage spike. They all worked right out of the box. Well made and fairly priced.

Make sure you wire according to the datasheet
If you're working with a microcontroller and not a prebuilt board, be sure your logic voltage and your motor voltage are going to the right pin. The datasheet is correct, I got a module with a poorly labeled pin. Always check the datasheet.

SPI Mode on the TMC 5160 Pro Doesn't Work.
Exactly as the title says, the SPI mode just doesn't work. I've tried them with multiple mainboards, still no connection.

Maybe buy 5
I went this direction because the pro versions are a little pricey but as others stated I had one doa. I bought four because I needed four and no one offers singles so I’ll have to buy another set and can’t get my printer going until I buy another set. Can’t return because the chance of having another doa. Other then that lol the three works so far on buzzing at least

Nice stepper controllers for a good price
I paired these with a SKR 1.4 Turbo and a new screen that I got as a kit and now my printer is smooth and silent. I wish I had done this sooner!!

Great little stepper drivers
The noise difference in StealthChop mode is astonishing. I run mine completely over UART which is very handy. Also the built in step generator (VActual) is great for offloading the stepping logic from your micro controller so it can get on with more important things

Works pretty well, albeit greatly limited
With some better heat sinking and/or forced air cooling you can get far more capability out of the chip. The TMC5160 can handle 600w - 10a60v per coil natively, but there are some limitations introduced by BigTreeTech's PCB and component selection. That said, you can extend the capabilities by using external gate drive transistors to nearly anything you'd like.I will probably desolder the TMC5160 and roll my PCB from one of the online PCB services. I bought the board because all the supply houses such as mouser are out of stock on the tmc5160 drivers.I'm using it to drive 17hs24-2104s 2.1a stepperonline motors, and it works well.
