This and the Carbon Block Filter were purchased together to drop into an old Omni dual filter housing that was installed many years ago under the kitchen sink. My wife has allergies to the chemicals that are found in our tap water and, like a coal mine canary, lets me know if the filter is working or when it needs to be replaced. Over the past year or so we have tried other brands of cartridges but she would have allergy symptoms and was forced to drink only certain brands of bottled water. However, we have been using this Multi Stage PLUS Filter Cartridge for over a month and my wife is allergy symptom free. She is now able to drink this filtered water instead of bottled water which makes us both very happy. We will be monitoring her symptoms to see when we will need to change out the filter. I hope it lasts as long as advertised.Note that while the Carbon Block Filter dropped right into the Omni filter housing, the Multi Stage PLUS Filter was a tight fit and had to be pressed into place. I worried that pressing in the filter might crack the cartridge but that did not happen. This is probably only an issue with this older housing, but it still works great.

I purchased the Crystal Quest filtration system (for this filter) a few years back for my ice maker and purchase these filters when the taste of the ice gets a little off -- although I think the manufacturer recommends more often. They have been great - and although a bit pricey for a filter, I think it is worth it knowing that it eliminates most contaminates from my city water system (well, at least for the ice :-). It's actually a small price to pay when considering how long it lasts and how well it does the job - so it's worth every dime.

I been using this product for the last 4 years and I can't express how great is to have clean and great tasting water. I live out of US and clean water is a must! This filter really does the job! And what makes it better is that I don't have to buy gallons of water .

This was the third replacement filter I've purchased over the last 2 1/2 years. After installing the new filter, there was a chemical taste in the water that, even after 20 minutes of running water through the unit, will not go away. Clearly something is wrong with the filter.

Update: Crystal Quest sent me a replacement at N/C. I'm hopeful; that this one will be fine, as many others in the past always have been.Original Review:I just replaced a cartridge after just 1 month of service due to its catastrophic failure. Normally, I get 6 months to 1 year of service from these. I've been using these particular cartridges for years in my home and in our RV. This one that failed vomited out a bunch of brown sand-like junk and clogged my system. I discovered this when my flow went to nil overnight. I hope it wasn't toxic because we've been drinking it. I may try another brand or some other alternative.

I'm picky about my drinking water flavor, and my under-the-sink crystal quest filtered water is delicious!
