3-in-1 Soldering Iron Rework Station Hot Air Gun 853D DC 10 Tips welder 3 in 1 YIHUA: desertcart.com: Tools & Home Improvement Review: Great for hot air rework - I'm writing this review after having used this product for about 3 days. Overall, it's a good machine and worth the price. Initial impression: The item was packed well in its original box. The tips for the soldering iron are in a nice, high quality zipper bag which makes them easy to store. You do have to attach the hot air gun holder to the side of the unit (screws were already partially put in, I had to back them out and attach the holder). There weren't any instructions for assembly, but if you're using this product, you shouldn't need that. Hot air gun: The hot air gun is the reason I bought this unit, and it works very well. I haven't tried too many of the tips yet, but what I have tried has been perfect. It sits well in the holder and deactivates the heater while in the stand. The fan continues to blow until the heat drops to 100C. The fan will not initially turn on until you lift the gun from the holder. This is a really nice safety feature. The dial to control the air flow works as expected and lets you quickly control how fast the air moves. Soldering iron: After the original defective unit was replaced (hugely impressed with this seller's commitment to customer service!), the new iron is working great. It doesn't heat up quite as quickly as some other stations I've used, but it's still quite fast (somewhere between .5 and 1.5 min to get to 320C). Tip replacement is quite simple and the wide variety of tips is really nice. Voltage source: This seems to work well. The voltage readout is identical with my multimeter's voltage measurement, within a couple percent I'd say. It's hard to estimate since the value is reported only down to a tenth of a volt. But then again, I don't think the intent here is to use this as a precision voltage source. I set it to 5.0V and I get either 4.9 or 5.0 reported by my meter. I accidentally shorted it and it gave a warning beep and turned the power off. Again, good safety feature that seems to work as intended. General observations: The temperature is not easy to adjust. The buttons are single degree increments, and if you hold them down the temp moves so fast that you can't really control it. It's annoying, but still usable (especially since I don't change the temp much). The LEDs for the hot air gun and the soldering iron blink "- -" when they're turned off. I always switch the power off from the main switch on the back of the unit. Seems odd to me that anything lights up when the switch for that particular piece is off. The voltage readout for the power supply doesn't seem to have this "problem". Review: Very, very nice!! - Very good for the price. As an electrical engineer, I didn't expect a pro-quality system and to be honest this isn't one. But it is an impressive package of the tools you most need on the bench - controlled temp soldering iron, controlled temp and airflow SMD rework blower and variable DC power supply and meter. Fit and finish are excellent and all functions seem to work perfectly. Packing & packaging - A. Everything was secure, all pieces were individually packaged and the entire system was secured in form-fitting styrofoam panels. Fit & finish - A. No paint chips or dings, all cords are good quality and in good shape, no loose hardware or sloppy assembly. Operation - A. soldering iron works perfectly and is controlled well. Temp settings seem to be accurate, using a non-contact IR thermometer. SMD hot air is equally accurate and works well. DC power supply was checked against a Fluke DVM and is accurate to about 2%. There is +10mV of DC offset at all settings and about 4mV of AC ripple. I wish the binding posts on the power supply were better quality and had a cross hole so you could slip in the end of a bare wire, but I think I can carefully drill such a hole. NOTE - the SMD rework blower automatically goes into cool-down mode and turns off when it is placed back in its cradle. Pick it up and it turns back on. BTW, there was a complete spare SMD heater cartridge and thermocouple included in the package, I guess as a spare part if the original fails. Nice touch! ALSO - there was an inserted customer service card from Mark Ethan in North Caroline giving email and phone for customer service & support. Another nice touch. BOTTOM LINE - I bought this to use at home. It fills my needs beautifully! Unless it suddenly fails (not expected), I'd recommend it highly.

Good rework station for small applications
Good device for rework of PC cards. Nice to have hot air and solder iron in one unit. The temperature setting goes to 480 degrees F max on both the soldering iron and air heater. OK for small intricate work and not too hot as to scorch the PC card.. The hot air velocity is variable but can dislodge surface mount devices if held too close so practice first on a junk board using the same size SMD components..The iron also is real good for SMD work but maybe not for general purpose work where a stand alone 60 Watt iron would be better. If the hot air handle were to be improved it would be to provide angled nozzles to avoid hot air rising and making hands uncomfortable. in standby mode, the station draws 5 Watts. Rocker switch on back panel allows complete turn off. A little hard to reach when the unit is perched on a shelf above the work space. Really nice that the station comes with multiple iron tips as well as shaped air nozzles. The 1 Amp variable power supply is a real nice feature. A current limit control would have made the supply superb.. Working cables are a little difficult to arrange on the work desk to avoid interfering with test equipment or other items. Both working cables exit close together on the front of the case.. Might be good if soldering iron cable had a jack on the back.to allow good separation. I might modify it for that to allow some separation .of cables.

UNPLUG THIS UNIT AFTER EACH USE! -- Do not rely on the back panel switch. -- Good machine, GREAT value.
A quick visit to YouTube will show that these units should not be left plugged in once you are done working with them. Whether or not you have the back panel switch off, these units (the alphanumeric line of soldering stations and rework stations) are prone to catching fire due to a flaw in their designs. Also, they tend to be fused on the neutral instead of the hot. Eventually, I will open this up and install a true mains switch and ensure the fuse is on the correct line. All that being said, for under a hundred dollars, this is a CRAZY good value and performs very well. I am by no means a soldering expert, but with just a little trial and error, I quickly soldered together a 50v, 50000uf capacitor bank. Using snap in connectors on the caps (low cost), I soldered ring terminals to each lead with a 0 ohm result from the top of each ring to the base of the snap in. Great results on a first try for this type of operation, for a truly amateur solderer. Soldering iron heats up quickly. On larger solder joints, the iron tends to lose a bit of heat, so I started with the temp a bit on the high side, and that worked great. Used the rework wand to yank a few components off a PC power supply board for reuse on an amplifier project. Works brilliantly. This thing will pay for itself in desolder operations alone. Highly recommended, even with the safety caveats.

I just it about an hour ago and immediately flipped over a PC board in a Yamaha audio mixer Ive had in the shop for months I had
I've been servicing electronic gear for years and have wanted a hot air station but most of the stuff I work on dont need it and I couldnt justify the several hundred dollars for the ones I had been looking at. Then that one repair would come in where if I had one of these it would make my work so much easier. Then I saw this unit by mere chance on Amazon. $100? Really!? For that price, if the thing didnt work I at least got a power supply and another soldering station! I just got it about an hour ago and immediately flipped over a PC board in a Yamaha audio mixer Ive had in the shop for months. I had planned to rebuild it from a lightning strike but kept putting it off because I knew what a pain it was going to be to replace those components half the size of a grain of rice. My smallest soldering tip looked like a shovel next to those parts! This station came completely assembled except for mounting the hot air tool holder which mounted quickly with the two screws supplied. I was surprised the soldering iron looked exactly like my Hako 900 stations! I suspect they are the same but cant make that statement for sure. I just know holding them side by side except for the brand name you cant tell them apart. I plugged everything up, turned it on, and didnt know what really to expect. Of course the soldering iron got hot, but nothing was going on with the hot air tool. The manual says it must be in the holder before you turn it on. Well, I did and nothing happened - until I lifted it out of the holder!!!! NOW I knew why you have to have the gun holstered before you turn on the power. Turns out there must be a magnetic switch that keeps the hot air tool off until you need it. That thing ran up to 325 degrees in less than 30 seconds or thereabouts. If you had it laying out on your workbench and turned the machine on, you'd have a burn mark in your table top before you realized it! I tried to unsolder an SMD chip on the Yamaha PC board with the hot air tool using the smallest tube and within seconds it lifted off. I couldnt believe it! Clean. No fuss. Beats the heck out of solder wick and making a mess of the PC board! If you are looking for an affordable hot air work station, for me, this is a great product. Time will tell how it holds up but for my needs, Im well pleased. A hot air desoldering tool, a power supply, a volt meter, and a soldering iron all in one box for $100. At first blush, its an excellent value! Now I can finally get that Yamaha mixer out of the shop thats taking up so much space!

Excellent customer service - Mark Ethan Inc
Excellent customer service. Two parts were missing from the box but the company (Mark Ethan) made it right and sent the parts immediately. There appear to be some cheaper versions/knockoffs of this Yihua 853D but the Yihua seems very solid, heats quickly, has some great features like auto-shutoff and showing the temps as the unit cools down. The Air gun works well for SMD removal/rework and heat-shrinking, The soldering iron is, to me, just as good as the $300 Weller I used at work. The handle stays cool and fits my in my hands comfortably. The power supply is a nice bonus, mine maxes at 15.4 volts DC and is accurate to +/- .03 volts. It can also measure DC voltage. I read some reviews stating there was an RF Meter as well, but not in the version/company I purchased from. Overall, I am pleased with the unit and the customer service I received.

This is a good Soldering station not top of the line but allot ...
This is a good Soldering station not top of the line but allot for the buck. Ive not used all its functions really ive tested them they all seem to be working ok. I dont however like the off switch in the rear as even if you switch it off there is power on the transformer even it the meters dont show it. I unplug it from the wall to be sure im not going to burn down the garage when not in use. It's a good unit the heat gun works super and the soldering station works fine but wished i could change from the temp from Fahrenheit and Celsius takes some to get used to setting the temps. The tips fit my Radio Shack one as well so bought a 2nd set just for it. The power supply works just not found a thing i need to use it on yet and the voltage meter works again dont find myself using it allot. The marshmallow cooker is nice that comes with it jejeje

Must-have for any electrical engineer's or hobbyist's workbench!
I was originally looking for a nice DC power supply when I ran across some similar products to this. Before, I used a cheap soldering iron that had a dial to adjust temperature. When I stumbled across this, I thought the price was too good to be true, so I did some research and eventually bought it. PROS: - Heat gun and soldering iron heat up very quickly and are high quality - Both the heat gun and soldering iron can go up to 480C - Unit is fairly lightweight and fits on a wooden shelf above my workbench quite nicely - DC power source is compatible with any testing cables you may use for any other variable power supply, and works very nicely - DC power supply has short protection. Saved me a bit of money on fuses a few times, I'd rather get a beep than a blown fuse CONS: - I've been using the station for a few weeks now and have yet to come across any problems. The unit does not feel cheap and has performed well above my expectations for its price.
