How many uses per can?

Get rid of it asfadt as you can ! That stuff is lethal made me sick and my dog sick. It attacks your lungs. Hard to get rid of once you use it as it attaches itself to cloth areas of the car.

can this be used in a very large apartment?

Yes, they can certainly be used inside as long as you follow the directions as they would translate to a house. Keep in mind you may need more than one as they are not designed to fill a large room.

If used in a home, do you set it off in the air return vent?

This is really meant for the car, if you have central air it may work. If you use it by an ac unit that is in window it will just blow it right out side. And I wouldn't suggest being in the house or your pets or open fish tanks because I'm pretty sure it's toxic to them if it gets in their water

Is there a way to spray a little once and use the rest later?

Once you pop the tab, the entire canister sprays out. There is no way of saving some for later use. this is mean for a one time use.
