Nice to have a transparent gaiwan, but it has flaws
It's really nice to see the activity of the leaves as they unfold and heat up, especially tightly rolled oolongs, but there are serious downsides: the glass conducts heat much more readily than normal porcelain. When you pick it up to pour the tea, it is really hot. Even if you pick up it up from the tray, the top of the lid can be very hot if you steep it with lid closed: I've "ow!"'d on occasion using this. Also, if you don't pick it up from the tray, a little bit of liquid in the tray leads to it sticking to the cup, so sometimes you pick it up half-way, and the tray drops and clatters.I like watching really tightly rolled oolongs unfold, or packed cakes slowly open up. That's the only benefit of this. There are probably better ways to get the transparency than this offers.

Quite beautiful over all
my first Chinese tea cup (i have well over 15+ english vintage ones, modern david tea, japanese cast iron cups, too). I've been wanting a glass one. The glass is amazingly thin and light. Quite beautiful over all. I have to admit i was afraid to handle it since it feels so delicate. But i've used it a few times and it's been a lovely tea drinking experience. ^__^If you're going to use it to actually brew tea then yah it's gonna be a little on the small size.to those reviewer who says the glass would be too "warm/hot" to handle, well that's why there's a SAUCER! You're suppose to hold that and just tilt the cup, it won't fall out since the cups sits in an indent in the saucer.I plan to get another one to make a pair. Happy tea drinking. : )

Wonderful for white or green tea too hot to touch with black or puerh tea
I like this Gaiwan it is larger than any of the others I have allowing you to brew two small servings or one medium size serving. It is beautiful with the tea inside steeping. The only downside is because it is glass it gets extremely hot to touch if you brew black or puerh tea at close to boiling. When I first brewed puerh in it I felt as though my hands were burning and had to put it down multiple times while pouring into my cup causing the tea to over steep.U have used it since for green and white tea and with the lower water temperatures the gaiwan is much more usable. Overall the gaiwan is great for lower temp steeping but tough to use with near boiling water.

Runs a little small.
I read the other reviews, but for some reason I just didn't seem to get it. It is really small. like half a teacup. I thought it would be about the size to hold one cup, but I really should have looked into what 100ml looks like. Just look closer into the size so that you know what you are getting. Still a nice gaiwan though. And it looks exactly like the picture. Stays together really well, and it's very easy to pour one handed because of its size. So I will be keeping this.

See through Gaiwan is great idea
I use it every business day since I received it for brewing raw Puerh at work desk. The glass is thinner and lighter then I expected But it is sturdy and stays together so far. Makes me handle my tea time with extra care !

Exactly what I was looking for.
I purchased this Gaiwan to replace my travel Gaiwan which cracked. This one fits perfectly in the case with my cups. This is a small Gaiwan about 85 to 90 ml which is perfect for one person but can easily serve two. I find the quality of this product to be excellent and the price is fair considering you are buying online and with prime you get free shipping. My only suggestion to the seller is to add that it's a small Gaiwan under 100 ml in the description. When you look at the product photo you can't tell if it's large 150ml and up or small 100 ml or less.

Bad lid design, burns when used
It's a very thin delicate glass so it's not great at retaining heat. Not a big deal by itself. But a very big, cant-be-ignored problem is that the "handle" / thumb press on the lid is not separate from the lid. It's more of an impression into the lid and becomes as hot as the rest, making it ineffective at doing it's job (giving you an unheated spot to hold the lid on with). I have plenty of experience getting burned by tea and can tolerate it a little. But generally I'll probably try to stick to lower temperature teas in this gaiwan

This gaiwan is 100ml at most - more like 85-90ml. If you are expecting a larger vessel
This gaiwan is 100ml at most - more like 85-90ml. If you are expecting a larger vessel, I would advise purchasing another item. For $11, you can't go wrong. This is an inexpensive, small gaiwan perfect for one or two people. The lid and body do not perfectly match but they are very close, and the slight mismatch does not interfere with usage. The cup nests well into the saucer and I am able to get a stable grip and smooth pour from many positions. My gaiwan arrived adequately packaged and unbroken.
