The Real Mccoy Blue Note Classic Series

Kind of Confused
Big fan of the Tone Poet and Blue note 80 records. I see many satisfied people with this release. But, I must have gotten the last copy off the stamper. While I can't see anything visible wrong with this record, my copy is muffled and lifeless. Sounds like someone has tied pillows and a quilt over my speakers.Didn't buy the Lee Morgan title, as I have an RVG original, so I can't comment on that. Have high hopes for this series, but I got a clinker on this one.

Just as good as the Tone Poets.
These new Blue Note Classics records sound just as beautiful as the brilliant Tone Poet series. I intend to get every one as they come out. I do wish the sleeves were as nice as the tip-on jackets for the Tone Poets, but with a record of such quality at this price, I honestly cannot complain. Pick these up immediately! You will be stunned! Worth every penny!

Awesome!
This album sounds fantastic, Blue Note has done an amazing job with their Classic Reissue series so far! I just wish that they came in a thicker gatefold jacket like the tone poet series

Fanastic album -- very much in the style of Coltrane
If you like Coltrane's classic quartet with McCoy Tyner (such as on A Love Supreme and other classics), you will really like this album. It is absolutely amazing. It also features one of my favorite jazz tracks, "Contemplation." Really first class.

Middle of the road
It is a good pressing, and definitely the best you can get at this price. Odd mastering choices by Kevin Gray, but by the end of the day, It is worth buying.Music: 4/5Sound: 3/5

Poor Sound Quality
Poor sounding compared to the other 80th and Tone Poets I have purchased. This was the worst. It also arrived opened.

The Real McCoy - a classic forever
Very good sounding master and high quality pressing of an all-time classic jazz album by the legendary McCoy Tyner.

almost
my love hate relationship with blue note records continues , first the positives well pressed, sounds fantastic good value when you consider you are getting an audiophile pressing for not much money compared to everything else out there well done blue note, now the negatives , firstly i'm not going to bleet on about the covers because these are not tone poets and we should't expect them to be so for me the covers are just fine what is not fine are the inner sleeves they are just criminal in this case , they are the plain paper ones not poly lined the paper is just as bad as sand paper on the vinyl , it creates scuff marks it leaves paper stuck in the grooves and creates terrible static why would you do that ? and my copy had a slight warp in it ....this is why blue note annoys me so much they have everything in their laps like the master tapes and the great art work not to mention some of the greatest music ever recorded but they always let themselves and us down by poor quality control...the irony of the vinyl world at the moment is if you compare to a dodgy label like waxtime who have nothing but needle drops and cd quality recordings to their name but the actual vinyl is always flat clean and noise free...like i said some of the best music ever recorded ..enjoy

Not the Tone Poet series at all.
I agree with most previous reviews. Not the polish of the Tone Poet series for some crazy reason. These are the re-issuesthat most of us have been lusting after.Mine came covered in dust and even somehair but relatively flat and plays well so I guess I’ll hang on to it. Why some in this series cost $25 and others $42 is beyond me.

Great recording, damaged record
This is a great recording that I am very familiar with. My disappointment is that I received a damaged record.Side 2, run in groove looks like it was dropped or grated against metal. I bought the record on January 19. Unfortunately, I did not take the record out of its jacket to play it until February 20th. So I cannot even return it.This is a manufacturing or post-manufacturing defect. Can't blame Amazon for this one. Blue Note QC is wanting. I have hd a similar experience with Dexter Gordon's Clubhouse (Tone Poet at that!). On the other hand, I have had to return another LP where the seam was split and there was ring wear, suggesting suboptimal storage and transport. t

One of the Best!
This has long been heralded as one of the greatest jazz ups of all time....and for good reason...it is! if you like 60's period post bop, you'll love this gem of an album. Great pressing through and through. My only complaint is that they kinda cut it a bit short by not giving it the whole Tone Poet treatment, which is TREMENDOUS! Still an easy recommendation!Be wel and stay safe!
