Saved my Kindle
I scheduled vacation in Germany and wanted to bring my Kindle. I knew that Europe has a higher voltage of electricity -- I learned that the hard way when I fried my nebulizer in a hotel. I had ordered the Kindle EU Power Adapter and the Insten Universal World Wide Travel Charger Adapter Plug, just to be safe. The Insten didn't arrive in time. I took the Kindle EU Power Adapter and hoped for the best. Not only was I able to charge my Kindle safely and in a normal time-frame, but I used it to charge my phone too!!! It worked great. It was a life-saver. I plan on going back to Europe and the Kindle EU Power Adapter now permanently resides in my Kindle M-Edge case, along with my US charger.I highly recommend this product.PS: Be aware that other countries have physically different electrical sockets, but the countries often have higher voltage in those sockets. US sockets are typically 110 volts but other countries can be 240 volts, which is higher than my clothes dryer of 220.

Quality USB Charger for the money
This is a great quality USB charger for the money. If you travel to Europe a lot this will just work without having to borrow one of those silly US to Europe chargers from the reception in the airline lounge or hotel that you have to watch all the time to make sure that they are actually making proper contact with your US charger and charging your Kindle/iPad/iPod/iPhone/BlackBerry etc.The Apple USB charger retails for double this, so this is a good one to keep when you travel as it will charge all your USB devices, and it costs half of Apple's retail one - Apple USB Power Adapter (Newest Version) [Retail Packaging ].Now I know you can pick up USB chargers from various retailers on Amazon for around $2 or $3, and I have been cheap enough to try them with all kind of problems ranging from overheating to burning smells, but seriously folks, you have devices that costs 100s of dollars attached to them, and if one of those cheap ones go over-voltage on your $600+ iPhone it will fry it... buy a quality one like this.

Adapter for continental Europe
This adapter, when combined with the Kindle USB cable, makes it easy to charge the Kindle in continental Europe. It works between 110 and 240 Volts, so with an adapter plug it can actually be used anywhere in the world. Please note that the standard US Kindle adapter is also designed for 110 to 240 Volts, so if you have a simple adapter plug (the kind you might use for an electric shaver when traveling) and the US version, you do not need to buy the European model. And if you are traveling with a computer, you can connect the Kindle to the computer with the USB cable and charge it that way.The adapter works well but is very expensive to have shipped to Europe and I don't know about other Kindles, but mine needs to be recharged about twice a week!

A gem. This unit is an engineering feat, being an engineer myself, I was afraid to plug this in, thinking this is some big, fat, silly joke that fries your kindle DX and puts you in a most wretched state of being. The casing design is flawless, the assembly is a story worth of hearing all by itself. Of course, it works, and a real nice thing is that this unit doubles as an ultra compact 5 volt power source, giving you power close to an ampere - something that you can use for thousands of things, amongst some of which could be a led-lamp for your kindle DX, which you can solder in about five minutes, or a small fan, or just power for some of the pieces of electronics of yours, or - you name it. This unit is a birthright of a kindle DX, and no kindle DX-s should go without this one!

Worked well
I used this to charge my Kindle on a recent trip to Turkey and Greece. Because it has an USB port on the opposite end from the prongs, I also used it to charge my iPhone. It worked fine. BUT, don't depend on being able to use it without a regular converter. There was a hotel where this would not fit in the wall (who knows why) and I had to use the converter I also brought with me.I suppose if you have a GOOD converter, you dont even need this plug. The converter I took was a Walkabout ([...])Be aware that Kindle power adaptor ONLY works in European outlets. Other countries (including England) have different outlets. You will need your entire power cord so that you can plug it into the converter.

Excellent product
I love this small piece of adapter, it's not only usable for kindles, but also ipad, iphone, or even blackberry, nokia, you name it. You name it. I went on a shooting assignment without bringing my blackberry's charger. The adapter + the cable from my card reader saved my life. The thin design is another plus. I hate those kinds of "brick-like adapter" which hogs all the space on my power outlet. The only thing that bugs me a bit is that it's a bit long, and some of the sockets in my house are behind a table, a chair or a wardrobe. So it maybe a bit inconvenient.Highly Recommended!

It's a charger. Nothing more, nothing less.
It's a charger for micro usb. If you already have one, use that instead. If you lost the charger to your cellphone, then you could use this one. They say in the description that this charger is for kindle only but if it was then they wouldn't have chosen micro usb where they have to design it with certain specifications already set, they would instead have chosen some obscure plug where they could choose whatever voltage they wanted to.So, to conclude this, you probably already have a charger that works with kindle at home. If you don't have one already, you can probably find a cheaper one at your local hardware store.

Why is standard shipping not available?
I bought this EU power adapter after I had received and started to use my Kindle Touch 3G and had to pay three times the price of the charger for the mandatory express delivery. Needless to say, this is unnecessary and annoying for people living outside the U.S.The charger itself has a neat size, works well, and meets my expectations.
