Flawless operation and superior quality
I tried two other discount external optical drives, both of which were miserable "failures to launch". As I have a HP computer figured I'd buy the HP external optical drive. This unit is of notably higher quality than the discount devices, and has at least a usable length cord, even has a choke coil, higher quality.The unit performed flawlessly. Started right up and has zero issue. Yes it does cost more, but for the far higher quality and that it actually works, money well spent. I'd suspect you'd have no issues for a non-HP computer, that shouldn't make any difference.I highly recommend this external optical drive, if only for the much superior quality of construction.

Use caution
I was surprised at how lightweight it is and how fragile the tray felt. Having said that,I would use caution when pushing the tray in. I have seen similar comments on those made by other companies as well.There was no problem running it in Windows 11 and it recorded a cd with no issues.

I bought this for a trip as my laptop doesn’t have a installed DVD player. Despite this thing being flung like hell out of my bag in airport security it still works just fine!! 100% would recommend this item
