Tru-Spec Gen-II Adjustable Boonie Hat - Military Standard Issue - Adjustable Strap - 65/35 Polyester/Cotton Rip-Stop - OSFM

Great hat. I'm trying out a bunch of hats looking for the perfect travel hiking hat, I'm not sure about the rest, but this one's definitely a keeper.Starting with size, I have a huge noggin. like 24.5 Inches around, a 7 3/4 I believe? I've never found a "one size" that fits, it's so bad it's like a joke to go to a store and try on hats. I look Ridiculous in most caps, etc. This hat actually fits, not just Fits, but I cinch the strap down just a little. Mind you, cinched down more on a normal human head, like my female friend's, it scrunches down better on top, but you do what you can when you have a basketball for a head.Material. It's a thin ripstop 65/35 cotton/poly. I've included a pic of the label for proof. Should be thin and breathable, but pretty durable (more so than the noggin it's sitting on!)The brim is fairly firm, the pic I included is the hat as I took it out of being packaged, no flattening or ironing or anything. It did Not come folded up though, so that may put some folds in it if it's folded tightly, but I don't Think so, I just rolled it up and stomped on it and it seems the same.The coyote color is nice too, no yellow, what I'd call a nice medium khaki.The stitching all seems well done, no loose threads or missed stitching. The brim outer wrap overlaps nicely and is open, so you can feed a thin wire around the brim for more stiffness and a memory bend effect, I will probably check it out (be sure to use stainless or aluminum nothing that can rust).If you're looking for a nice boonie type hat, you should definitely check this one out, especially for the ridiculously low price. Price isn't even in my considerations and this rates as well as the ones 8x as much.

I was curious as to what I would receive when I bought this hat. I had also bought a US Government issued boonie hat at the same time from another source. I'll be honest, this hat compares very favorably to and in my opinion may exceed the Mil Spec boonie hats! The material is of equal quality, the width of the brim is the same size but is a little stiffer. In the very top of the hat, there's a double layer of material that can serve as a pouch for storing some small papers if you wished. The only down side is the "chin strap" comes with a plastic cylinderical toggle clip fastener with the chin loop tucked through it that is only held on by its own closure compression spring. If you happen to open the toggle or catch it on something, it can simply slide off of the chin strap cord and become lost or result in you having to spend some time getting the chin loop pushed through the opening while compressing the spring to open its hole. It's also large and is somewhat bothersome hanging around your neck unless you tuck the whole chin strap up into the hat during use. I'm used to the small leather or rubber stamped piece acting as a holder for the Mil Spec hats which work well in my opinion. Yes, I still highly recommend the hat and would get it again.

This hat is very well made and the adjustable sizing is great for that perfect fit. The digital camo pattern is awesome. Small top pocket inside of hat (about the size of a calculator.) This is not a shallow hat. It rides perfect for me. 7"3/4 -7"5/8. plenty of head room. The adjustable tie down strap is a great feature and allows you to secure up/down cowboy/Aussie style. If your looking for a well made boonie with good protection and at a great price, then look no further! Side note: It can be a little warm on very hot days. This hat shines in Spring, Fall, winter.

Arrived on time. Fabric feels durable, and the pattern appears to be a good match for 5.11 and Tru-Spec items. Hat brim is 2 1/4" but when adjustable size feature is drawn tight the brim width increases to 3". The adjustment strap is too slick to provide a good grip in the locking Toggle, causing it to slip and not stay properly adjusted. Para cord might grip better, but may prove difficult to lace through the grommets in the hat. Adjustability concept is nice, but not perfected. Still worth the price. Purchase with confidence.

Great hat and I have worn almost everyday since I got it. Made by Tru-Spec. I will be purchasing another in near future (different color).

My head is big. Most large men's hats don't fit me (I mostly don't bother with hats that are specifically for women for that reason. Too small.) .This one fits comfortably, looks stylish and keeps the sun off.I would like more color options, particularly Chocolate and Burgundy. But I have the camel color & the navy blue and I really like them. Keeps the sun off, and fits my head!

Quality boonie hat, paired with a bug net, perfect for the midwest woods with bugs.

Good fit, large brim, and rivals some of the mil gear I had in DoD. Used it on a hunt - no complaints and worked great with my over-ear hearing protection.
