Consistently high quality over years of purchase
This bonito is always really fresh and dare I say "plump" right out of the bag. For shaved tuna, the pieces are nicely sized and thick and while it still smells like fish, it is a really good smell. I keep this in my fridge and use it whenever I need a good umami flavoring in my dish. Dogs and cats LOVE bonito so don't be afraid to share some with your fur kids. It gives them a great boost of protein. I've been purchasing from this brand for years and have never had an issue with quality.

My Turkish Angora goes feral for these
My kitty is a 10 year old intact males Turkish Angora and if I even look at or touch the bag he lights up like a lighthouse. I grab the bag and he's LOUDMOUTH meowing and jumping up and standing on his back 2 legs. He scarfs them down as if he was starving and little dry pieces get stuck to his nose. It's adorable. These must be given in extreme moderation. 1 bag lasts 2-3 months maybe more. He gets small doses 2-3 times a week. Just little handfuls.If you're kitty is food motivated, this will most likely be a hitAlso they are food grade so humans can eat them too

My Cats are in love with this product!
By far the best price for the amount that you get - only one out there that sells it in this size (and not a bunch of individual bags together in smaller sizes.) Always fresh, always packaged with bubble wrap or something around it to protect it. The smell might be strange to humans but cats can smell it a mile away - that's how fresh it is when it's delivered I use a "chip clip" to close it after giving some to my cats as a treat and it is always just as fresh when I go to the bag again a few days or more later to give them more. I have noticed a huge difference in the coats of my cats also - their fur and coats are much more shiny and silky since I have started giving these flakes to them as a treat every few days or so. The flakes are very large and the bag is almost completely full when you receive it (which can't be said for other brands out there of these flakes, much less any chips or otherwise that we humans buy at the store.) I'm very impressed with this company and the amount that they provide for the price. My cats are in love with it and know the bag as soon as I pull it out of the cabinet and immediately line up meowing begging for a treat of these flakes, they're obsessed and i have to hide it otherwise they would never leave me alone for them and would probably break into the bag themselves and help themselves (which did happen once when I didn't close the cabinet door shut tight enough and didn't realize it - they found a way to open the cabinet door up in the middle of the night and get it off the of the shelf and help themselves that night...I found quite the mess the next morning but, that's my fault for not closing the door enough.) Do your furry cat friends a favor and by these for them as a treat, and help their health and coats/fur as a result also while they love you for giving them these!

FYI = Possible batch differences?
This is the best treat for 2 of my 3 cats. They literally beg for it every time I'm even close to where the bag is stored. With the most recent purchases (tried 3x in a month). They continue to beg for it but when I feed them a bit, now I see they try to "literally" attack it (like they normally would) but hesitate and start smelling every bit of it, pulling out - what seems to be - random flake strips. It's as if they detect a change they don't like (I've read some reviews on something similar). They will not eat the rest.One of them, after a few days started puking, dry heaving, and had a lose of appetite. Her name is Fatty (for good reason), so this is very rare behavior. I had already discontinued feeding them the unwanted flakes. As I mentioned, I've now tried waiting a week or two between the last 2 bags, still no change. The issue with Fatty is clearing up.This happened a couple years ago, and the next purchase reverted back to typical DOC fiend behavior :).I know its something with a possible change in batch, and although could be something minor, it's enough for my cats to notice and ultimately affect. Was wondering if anyone experienced anything similar? and if so, other than discontinue use, what actions were taken.I'm in no way trying to down this product.I've purchased this about 20 times in the past 2 years.This is both an attempt to inform, and for know if there's anyone that has an explanation/personal experience regarding this very issue.I want to be 100% sure of any choice I make. This is such a rewarding treat for both of my lil partners.

Everybody loves these fish flakes!
Perfect for miso soup, or even a quick topper on salad or ramen. I've had several bags, always consistent quality. The dogs, and cats love it as well, perfect for treats, or enticement. We call it doggy crack....

adds umami to dishes, broths; lightly fishy mostly smokey, also great treat for pets
Bonito for dashi/broth, and for use as topping to rice or noodles. Nice to share with pets who like a fishy treat or food topper. Huge bag, lasts forever (freshness), little goes a long way in dishes.Does not need to be refrigerated, and pretty sure this stuff never goes bad. I may break this bag down into smaller bags just for ease of use and to limit air exposure.Currently $27 for the bag, or a bit less with full subscribe and save ($23), and I think I was able to buy my bag on sale for $20. I dont rate on price, but any of the price points are reasonable. of course, less is better in these times :)
