What is the size of the base?

The feet on the base are 5x5 inches. There is a decorative feature just above that makes the measurement more like 6x6 inches if that matters in your case. I love these lamps! I purchased two for my entry table. I also liked them in the bedroom, but had to make a decision on where to put them.

Is this lamp dimmable?

No, it has the typical lamp switch

My lamp arrived with cardboard around where the lightbulb goes and I am unable to remove it. Is this supposed to be there?
