i have been using wood chips instead of pellets. they smoke better, burn too fast, but worth the effort. i mix some different woods together for a balance. i cold smoked salmon without the smoker turned on for about an hour and it put that smell right in there. then i turn the smoker on to cook. that was fun. it stunk up the house pretty good so i know it worked.getting it lit is interesting. you light the end like a fat churchill cigar and let it catch fire for a minute then blow out the flame to get it really smoky. pellets are harder to light. they kept going out. keep an eye on it so it doesnt flame up. there is no smoke with the flame. used it about 5 times and not sorry i got it

A mist have for pellet grill kicks up your smoke game good for 5-6 hour of smoke. Really easy to use put off a lot if smoke!

I gave this cold smoker tube 4 stars. This tube works great. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because this tube as full as you can get it lasts between 3 1/2 to 4 hours. That's more then enough for bbq'ing but it's far from ideal for cold smoking salmon, fish or oysters. I am using alder pellets and again the tube falls a bit short on length of time before reloads.If you like to cold smoke anything like fish that takes 18 to 24 hours, I would suggest buying the bigger smoke boxes.This is a great product. The smoke it creates is very thick and intense. And it always continues to burn when it has pellets in it!

Such a great smoker. It allows you to easily cold smoke cheese. A couple of weeks ago we did a cold smoke on sharp cheese. The cheese tastes phenomenal. I highly recommend this smoker.
