The Twelve Days Of Christmas: The Children's Holiday Classic

Don Daily's artwork is delightful. We are all familiar with the song and who doesn't enjoy trying to sing it straight through without stumbling?! Now you can do it with your children (or in my case, grandchildren) looking over your shoulder as they are enraptured with Daily's wonderful interpretation. All of the characters are animals:The plump partridge dressed in chef's garb serves up a platter of poached pears as she rests on a tree branch.The two turtledoves cuddle on a snowy pine-branch and are dressed in early American continental hat and ruffs.The three rusty-red French hens with red waddles and combs are playing French horns. The four calling birds are a crows quartet dressed in stovepipe top-hats bearing chimney sweep tools and singing delightedly.Two circus polar bears balance on a ball and a unicycle as they juggle five golden rings between them.Six female geese in mob caps mother over a basket of hatching goslings.Four white lady swans in fancy bonnets swim with three male black swans in silk top-hats.Eight dairy-maid grey tiger cats chat as they gather milk from the brown cows in their old fashioned wooden buckets.Three tiny tuxedo-ed mice fiddle a tune as 9 glamorous ballerina sows dance on point.Ten lordly stags bedecked in white wigs and ruffled neckties showing under split tailed dress jackets prong over a snow covered landscape.Eleven grey hares dressed as king's court musicians tootle on silver pipes.And a drum corps of 12 brown teddy bears in red/white/& blue band uniforms finishes the song.The book has one more double paged drawing with an encore of players. Just delightful!!!!

This is a beautifully illustrated book by Don Daily. It is just the basic "Twelve Days of Christmas" that we all know from the carol, but the art is so fantastic and detailed. I also have a copy of the Velveteen Rabbit with his gorgeous art work! These books make me smile!!

I loved this book - looking at the art on the cover, I had to pick it up and open it - it will not disappoint! It is the kind of book I like to have on the coffee table at Christmas - the grandkids gravitate toward the animals, and the little ones still enjoy hearing the poem/song "one more time"!

I am so happy to add this book to my "Twelve Days of Christmas" collection. Don Daily is an amazing artist and has given thetraditional illustrations a new twist. Our little granddaughter will soon be old enough to enjoy the book, and it has her twomost favourite things, cats and teddy bears

My daughter found this book at the library and she positively loves it. A true Christmas classic with rich animation.
