Works Perfectly with Spanish eDNI, But You MUST Install the Software First!
I bought this reader for one specific reason: to do online management with my Spanish eDNI, and I’m happy to say it works perfectly. It's a great little device for the price. Physically, it's exactly what I was looking for it's small, incredibly lightweight, and doesn't clutter up my desk. When I plugged it into my Windows 11 PC, the computer recognized the hardware instantly, no fuss at all. Now, for the most important part that will save you a headache: this device will not read your eDNI straight out of the box. This isn't a fault of the reader, it's just how the Spanish system works. You first need to go to the official DNI electrónico website and find the section for downloads. You have to install their specific certificates and drivers onto your computer. Once you follow their online guide and get that software installed, this reader works absolutely flawlessly. So, five stars for the hardware and value, just be prepared for that essential software step!

Works with Portuguese Citizen Card
I purchased this to use with my Portuguese Citizen Card and worked straight out of the box using Autenticacao GOV (from within the UK). If you are looking for a card reader for your citizen card, this is it. Great quality and delivered pretty fast.

Functions well and easy to use
Bought this to read my EU ID card in order to identify myself at my virtual embassy. Just plugged in to PC USB and it worked immediately. Wire is long enough to access USB port at back of desktop easily. Very pleased at how easy it was to use.

Buy it to get Portuguese 🇵🇹 registo criminal ( police character certificate ) and this card reader done it in easily. No drivers to download just plug in to computer , put in citizen card and follow the instructions on português portal to get the certificate. Five star product 👍

Plug and play, and it WORKS. Had a few other ones not working. I am using it to read the Belgian E-ID. Very recommended

Werkt perfekt, je moet alleen weten de kaart ondersteboven in de lezer te steken als hij niet direkt de kaart herkend.

The Smart Card reader is not compatible with CIE 3.0, which contains the NFC (contactless) chip. Inside the title is written "Trust Primo Smart ID Card Reader, DNI, FIPS 201, FIPS TAA and ISO 7816 Class A, B, C Compliant, Spanish/Portuguese/Italian, Secure Login"
